I think Compagnoni is one of the biggest talents in the history of alpine skiing (in a different universe where she didn't have all those the dramatic injuries, she'd probably be a GOAT candidate), but in terms of career achievements, I believe Brignone is above her at this point.

I never thought I'd see the day Italy had a 30-medal and 10-gold edition of the Winter Olympics, so there are probably too many to choose from.
Brignone winning the Super G, because to me that was the story of the Games from a human standpoint.
Lollobrigida winning the 3000 meters, because it was the most jaw-dropping performance for me, as everybody — herself included— was saying she had a very rough preparation for the Olympics.
The 1-2 in the men's skicross, because it was the one race in which I got to taste the excitement of gradually realizing that something unbelievable is about to happen. That's probably why the first moment that comes to mind when I think of that race is not the final, but the quarterfinal in which the Italians eliminated Howden.
If I have to choose just one moment, I'll go with those 3 hours on Sunday February 15th in which I saw Federico Pellegrino realize his dream of a relay medal, then Federica Brignone win the giant slalom, and finally Lisa Vittozzi win the first ever Italian gold in biathlon, with a silver medal in snowboard in the middle.

Prima vittoria Hockey femminile (4-1 Francia /Ice Hockey arena Santagiulia) Oro staffetta maschile nello speed skating (Speed Skating Stadium/ Rho fiera) Bronzo staffetta maschile nello short track (Ice Skating Arena/ Assago forum)

Now that I've had half a day to recover from the traumatic hockey loss, I can answer this question better:
Favourite Moments from Canadian Athletes (not many but they still exist)
The Cross-Country skiing team delivering great performance after great performance and giving hope for a Canadian renaissance in the sport Rachel Homan finally overcoming her Olympic demons and winning a medal in curling Mikael Kingsbury winning the first dual moguls Olympic gold medal at capping his career with an Olympic gold Megan Oldham winning gold in freeski big air Seeing the emergence of Stephen Gogolev in men's figure skating Deanna Stellato-Dudek finally getting to live out her Olympic dream at 42 years old when it looked like it wouldn't be the case after an injury in a practice session Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier finally getting an Olympic medal in Ice Dance Courtney Sarault winning 4 medals after winning no medals in 2022 and almost quitting the sport in 2023 Laurent Dubreuil finally winning a medal in the 500m Valerie Maltais (at 35 years old) turning back the clock and having a career year winning 3 Olympic medals in speed skating Women's Team Pursuit winning back-to-back gold medals
Favourite Moments from International Athletes:
Lucas Pinheiro Braathen winning gold in the men's giant slalom Johan-Olav Botn dedicating his win to Sivert Guttorm Bakken Federica Brignone overcoming injury and winning 2 gold medals Lisa Vittozzi winning biathlon gold on home soil Seeing the incredible Bulgarian performances in biathlon Elana Meyers Taylor finally winning Olympic gold Klaebo dominance Nazgul the dog Mikhail Shaidorov winning gold in men's figure skating Alysa Liu winning gold after retiring from the sport in 2022 Men's Freeski big air final Seeing the emergence of Kacper Tomasiak in ski jumping The parallel giant slalom events Choi Ga-on winning halfpipe gold after a scary injury on her 1st run Even though it wasn't the result I wanted, the men's snowboard cross final had a thrilling finish Francesca Lollobrigida stunning everyone with gold in the women's 3000m and 5000m In general, seeing all the countries that hadn't won a Winter Olympic medal ever or in a long time win a medal at these Games -

Matteo92 reacted to Sindo in Totallympics after Milano Cortina 2026 - Will you keep visiting Totallympics before the next Olympic Games?
The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics have now officially come to an end. These were the fourth Winter Olympic Games since Totallympics was founded, and the eighth Olympic Games overall, including the Summer editions!
I truly hope you enjoyed these Games, and even more, that you enjoyed experiencing them here on Totallympics!
The Olympic period always brings strong emotions, both positive and negative. Passion is what makes sport special, but sometimes frustration can spill over into comments on the forum. I hope no one felt hurt or upset by other users’ posts. I did my best to act quickly by editing or removing provocative comments, but I may have missed something along the way. If anyone felt offended by a post that was not removed, I sincerely apologize.
Now, after a well-deserved rest, it’s time to look ahead. Our focus shifts to Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympic Games, and the road has already begun: the first direct Olympic qualification event starts in less than two weeks with the 2026 World Baseball Classic (check out our 2026 Qualification Calendar for all the details!), and many other indirect qualifications have already begun.
Some clubs were extremely active during the Games, and I hope you enjoyed following the Olympics together with your compatriots. Now it’s time to switch into “LA28 mode”! Please make sure your club includes a dedicated section for Los Angeles 2028, and feel free to start opening threads related to qualification events and early predictions. This is a great opportunity to attract new users, and whenever new members join Totallympics, I will make sure they are invited to their respective national club.
To create new sections or reorganize threads within a club, you need to be an “owner” of that club. But don’t let the name intimidate you, it’s much simpler than it sounds! Each club can have multiple owners, and it does not require any special skills or a significant time commitment. If you would like to help organize content, create new sections, or manage threads more efficiently, just contact me and I will gladly grant you the necessary permissions.
Also, if anyone would like to change their username, this might be the right time to do so, whether it’s a small adjustment (a letter, a number, capitalization) or a complete change, feel free to contact me. I can update it for you without the need to create a new account.
And finally, a classic post-Olympic question: Will you continue visiting Totallympics on the road to LA28?
Thank you to everyone who contributed during these weeks. The Games may be over, but the journey on Totallympics continues. I look forward to seeing you around the forum very soon!

every single moment, from the opening ceremony to the end of today's hockey gold medal game (not watching the closing ceremony, just feeling to bad it's all over and I don't want to add more pain), wins or losses it doesn't matter
it was just a wonderful series of emotions, day after day
the only 2 notable exceptions: Lindsey Vonn and Kamila Sellier's injuries and the fuckin' idiot judging the men's races in the short track competitions

Haven't seen everything yet by a long shot but besides the obvious (Bruna's participation), seeing Baiba Bendika lead the relay halfway nearly brought a tear to my eyes, that was astonishing and certainly one of my highlights. Also Sophia Velicer's performances, Rosie Fordham being celebrated when finishing the 50k and the Dutch men's shorttrack relay team.

Brignone's Super G & giant slalom redemption. Probably cements her as #2 female all-time behind Compagnoni.
Many good speed skating events and obviously biathlon as a whole.

Plenty of moments, but while this one is fresh in my brain...
It was the audience singing the national anthem as they raised the at the end of the men's Ice Hockey game earlier today.
Of course everyone knows about the divisiveness of American politics. Here in the USA, we have so much fighting amongst ourselves, and the division is exhausting and at times worrisome. Then, when you look abroad, I see the world looking at us, and much of what I hear is negativity towards us. (This isn't unique to the current administration.) That even includes being on forums like this one, whose aim is to celebrate Olympic sport and athletes from around the world as they compete in the Olympics, whose aim is to bring unity and good sportsmanship.
During the Olympics, it's a time where we in the USA come together. Though half of my fellow Americans voted differently than I did, we all got to cheer when we scored that OT goal. We all came together and sang our national anthem. I don't know the hockey players at all. They may have voted for our current president, or perhaps not. Statistically, probably half of them did. But that doesn't matter here. We even have ads on TV right now saying "For two weeks, we all come together."
My country is more than its political leaders. (I mean, half of Americans didn't even vote for our president.) My country is full of beautiful stories, places, and people. We have amazing athletes. And when we win a gold medal, we celebrate. Of course there are aspects of being an American that aren't good...but there's plenty to celebrate. And I got to hear that audibly today.
When you on this forum see me and my fellow Americans celebrating a victory (whether that's in ice hockey or whatever random sport you don't care about), I hope what you see is us celebrating the accomplishments of our athletes. I hope you don't see me as one who is promoting any political agenda. (My political beliefs or who I voted for aren't relevant here.) I'm just a guy that likes to watch people from my country go out there and fight as hard as they can to win. When we do, it's great, and I'll celebrate. When we don't, I'll congratulate the victors and hope we can come back stronger next time.
This isn't a specific moment, but one thing I love most about international sport are the hugs that the athletes give each other after they finish. They're competitors, and they each want to win...but ultimately, they just want to be their best and beat the best. I love seeing the sportsmanship that is evident at most times. So likewise, I hope we fans can be an extension of that Olympic spirit, promoting peace, excellence, and good sportsmanship as we all celebrate sport.
And yes, I also recognize there may be some who don't like it when America dominates certain sports. I feel similarly when I see other countries dominating other areas. I mean, besides the Germans, who didn't love it when the sled came and stole bronze in the 4-man bob today? I think back to the Athletics WCh when randomly won a shot put medal, I think it was. I love the underdog story, too, and I celebrate those moments. Of course it stings if it's an underdog that beats , but again, congrats to the victor, and see you next time.

actually, I already read about axing shooting because of the woke delirium owning the ioc
also the organizers of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics agree because according to some of them shooting has a negative impact on the people and it's seen as an apologize of all the mass killings
they say people shouldn't be allowed to use weapons and the Olympics shouldn't feature activities made with weapons
my 2 cents on those idiots: 🖕🖕🖕
