It's purely down to quotas since alpine skiing is one sport where athletes can compete in multiple events so adding a team event is a freebie. Not so much in let's say ski jumping where team event was reduced to duets since overall quotas was cut down and only 2-3 teams can field four athletes.

Even I find it somewhat boring (only somewhat because it’s beneficial to Switzerland ), this combined event format combined is stupid and unnecessary. Why on god’s earth would it get changed from the combined event in Beijing to this, essentially screwing over countries that don’t have specialists in both, I don’t know. Way less competitive too. 

Yeah i was always a fan of the alpine combined event. miss it rellay much. But there are relays everywhere, so you can say the cross country relay is boring because there is only norway in mens competion and sweden in womens, ice hockey women ist boring because there s just usa and can.....

Removing an event where Israel, Hungary, Andorra and god forbid even smaller unimportant countries can finish in Top 10s/20s because, officially it was not competitive and boring

 

to replace it by a TEAM EVENT (obviously not anymore boring and not competitive alpine combined ) where even less countries than Mixed Aerials can start and allowing them to have 4 teams is just sorry but absolutely disgusting.

 

I understand that IOC need the best countries to be on top and win as many medals as possible due medias attention etc. No problem for that, but just do not lie that Combined was boring as the excuse of doing this change

Formula % Rules could be better, and it was better.

Most matches are for sure, but the games between USA-Canada are almost always bangers that go down to the wire and the battle for bronze between the likes of Czechia-Finland-Switzerland is always fun to watch. 
 

Sweden is up there a lot of the time, yes, the Norwegians and Diggins are up there as well though, and Finland/Germany/Switzerland/Austria can content on the day. With the Norwegian men, it’s a surprise if they don’t get at least two podiums and a gold, if not a sweep. But at least between them it’s usually close

I find it boring because it doesn't add anything new. The 2022 version was more interesting because instead of rewarding a "specialist," it would now reward the "generalist".

Why is there such a long time between starts? Are they trying to drag this out as much as possible because there are only 20 participants?
