hoversaBR got a reaction from intoronto in International Olympic Committee News
Is it so difficult for them to just make Baseball/Softball official sports already? This constant adding and removing them is kind of pointless.

It would be a shame, it's one of the coolest additions the IOC has ever made to the recent Olympics.

What I think about chances:
Football (W) - Already qualified
Volleyball (W) - Impossible not to qualify
Volleyball (M) - 100%
Handball (W) - 95%
Basketball (M) - 55% - I think this is the team's best moment in about 15 years. So I'm more confident this time.
Rugby (W) - 65% - Argentina is really improving, but I think in a direct confrontation for the spot we would still prevail, but this could be our last Olympics until they overtake us in this sport.
Football (M) - 30% - I don't think the CBF wants to miss another Olympics. Of course, it will depend on the clubs, but it will probably be the best team available. Which should be enough to have a chance at qualifying.
Handball (M) - 50% - This should be the best time to qualify, considering that Argentina is rebuilding, but I'm not going to give this team any favoritism.
Basketball (W) - 10% - The team has two really good players, if a miracle happens... But I doubt it.
Water Polo (M) - 33% - Canada, Brazil, and Argentina are at the same level.
Water Polo (W) - 5% - Canada isn't totally invincible here, so I won't consider this team completely out of the running.
Remaining - 0%
My bets:
Football (W)
Volleyball (M/W)
Handball (M/W)
Basketball (M)
Rugby (W)

Honestly feel like Rugby 7s could leave, not because of an IOC decision but rather because the discipline itself could disappear.

There are things I find pathetic, but saying a competition is unnecessary right after you don't qualify for it is the typical display of a loser. Pietro Maschio, when Conegliano qualifies for the Club World Cup next time, should refuse to participate like the Polish clubs do and stop spouting nonsense.

This is not a full retirement, but kind of a break/sabbatical due to...reasons.
For those who have been following @brunamoura's journey towards and last February eventually, finally, at the Olympics, this might be an interesting update. The 2030 Olympics are still in her sight, but next year's world championships in February seem...unlikely.
She still needs to do at least two surgeries, one on her nasal cavities due to a chronic inflammation that has been bothering her for years, and one on her legs. In the Olympic season she struggled immensely with pain in her legs, which in the freestyle technique made her sometimes just not even able to move and therefore finish or even start the races. The Olympic 10k freestyle was hard and painful, but she managed to get through it. We knew she was dealing with compartment syndrome, which is quite serious and certainly needs to be dealt with surgically, but the recovery time for that meant that doing so during the season would likely jeopardize the Olympics - again.
The plan was to do the surgeries this year, but that's unlikely to happen now...

Just like Italy's women's team, I hope our men's team sees some changes this year, especially after last year's disaster.
OH continues to be a problem for us. Of those called up last year, the situation is depressing at their clubs: Bergmann (bench), Bento (bench), Maicon (bench), Lucarelli (bench), Honorato is weak and I think he got injured. So we only have Adriano here...
Perhaps an alternative would be to put two opposites on the court considering the number of international-level opposite hitters we currently have: Darlan, Samuel, Bryan, Sabino, Chizona, Roque, Oppenkoski...

Just an inspiring story of perseverance: Geovanna Santos is competing in her ninth season as a senior gymnast. Most gymnasts retire after four or five years, so even competing at the highest level in her ninth year is already unusual.
However, this year she achieved a breakthrough result by earning her very first medal on the World Cup circuit, winning bronze on ribbon at the Tashkent World Cup.
It’s never too late to achieve success.

This is going to be one of those sports that I never remember exists in the Olympics, like golf.

I'm surprised by the gymnastics here. Colombia clearly doesn't care, and Brazil and Argentina are terrible.

I think we could realistically be in every boxing final here.
But some idiot got too provocative during the fight and got knocked out. Well, he's young, so let him take it as experience.

Well, I must say that two gold medals in wrestling is not something common for us (and one of them in men's freestyle!!!!), even at the South American level. So I'm satisfied.
