If it were in Brazil or any other latin american country...But of course in the first world, organizations are perfect, right?

What a way to start the Olympics.

Not a great look to start the Games this way.

It left a sour taste in my mouth. Not the start I was expecting for the Games. I'm glad the situation was resolved, but everything from the exaggerated extra time, the last-minute goal, the fans rioting, the VAR call, the results changed after 2 hours... Terrible. I hope things improve from here.

In my opinion, it is an additional argument to remove football from the olympic calendar. Clubs don't respect this competition and refuse to send their players in this event so the competition is weaker than it should be.

And after that, you have this football mentality which is the contrary of the Olympic state of minds.

On the pitch, Morrocco deserve the win, but the spectators just ruined everything...

So, a nice quiet start to the Games, we can all agree right? :p

I take the blame for Argentina's loss. I have them as gold medal winners in my predictions, which is a kiss of death for any chances they had. :d

The spectators are the problem, nothing more, nothing less.

Extra time seems to reach WC2022 levels anyway. Guinea also had 11 minutes of stoppage.

Wise words! Thanks for this post! They should change this football for beach soccer or futsal

    • Back in the 1970s, in the USA, it was called “Modern Rhythmic Gymnastics”   Coming back to edit this, since the sport was miniscule in the USA at that time, it’s probably how the FIG referred to it as well.
    • Although she did win bronze, I would add 1972 OG - Janet Lynn 4th in figures, 1st in FS.  Trixi Schuba,  1st in figures, 7th in FS.   And another one to add - 1984 Brian Orser  7-1-1.  Scott Hamilton 1-2-2.
    • Rhythmic Gymnastics The 2026-27 World Cup series will be part of the qualification process. This will occur after the 2026 World Champs, but before the 2027 World Champs. The top 2 eligible individuals and top eligible group will qualify. This caused a reduction of quotas available at the 2027 World Championships which now offer 12 individual and 4 group quotas.
