Austria and Switzerland have both confirmed cases now. Bahrain confirmed 9 today.

I saw Dick Pound trending in the US, so I knew instantly that the news was bad:

The game just reached the master levels now.

Everyone in Europe travels to everywhere on the continent. If one country has it, it's pretty much guaranteed every country will have it.

The cases will pile up now. Nothing official here, but with the amount of people coming and going to Italy alone, it's unavoidable...

Sports are really going to be shaken now.

Losing China was just as bad because they host everything. I agree sports are about to be hit hard though. I’m hoping I still feel safe to attend the Pan Am Climbing Qualifier when it comes around this weekend.

Much like the biathlon IBU Cups I like to visit, that sounds like something maybe 3 people attend so you should be safe :p

Well there’s a huge climbing community in Los Angeles, and it’s a first time sport. There’s also the upcoming LA games, so there will definitely be some heightened interest.

At the moment, I believe I’ll be fine, but if cases start springing up in US...

I’d rather stay home and play if safe, especially since my sister has a weak immune system (kidney issues).

First case in Brazil has been confirmed at the state of Sao Paulo. Two patients (both from the Northeast region, one from Bahia and another from my state Pernambuco) await confirmation. All three of them have been to Italy recently.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
