Just comparing the 2020 qualification system principles to the 2024 version released by the IOC EB today. There’s some interesting language or procedural changes to note. The four “big” ones I noticed were:

It seems like the IOC is going to overhaul the tripartite invitation system. Along this line, the language used suggests all individuals sports will now have quotas dedicated to universality places. The document stated “a detailed universality places allocation procedure will be published in February 2022.”

The IOC wants qualification systems to guarantee the participation of the best athletes based on “Field of Play performances.” I’m not sure how much to read into this, but it could be interpreted as they’d like sports to do away with ranking based qualification.

Also, the need for qualification systems to outline “minimum level of performance” to be eligible for quotas comes up in a few different places in the document. This could mean that all sports are expected to have minimum qualification scores/times/marks/criteria now…

Lastly, since it’s been a point of contention on here. The IOC was very clear that all sports need to guarantee continental representation

Not exactly IOC but.. I´ll put it here

Anton Siekel was elected again as :SVK NOC president for the next Olympic period (until Paris 2024)

Danka Barteková (Shooting - Skeet, current athlete), Miroslav Šatan (SVK Ice Hockey legend, most caps, most goals etc...nowadays SVK Ice Hockey federation president) and Peter Korčok (Athletics Federation president) were all elected as our NOC vice presidents

Anastasiia Kuzmina (Biathlon retired legend and only female to win 3 olympic gold medals at 3 consecutive WOG in this sport), Matej Tóth (Athletics Race Walking former olympic champion), Zuzana Rehák-Štefečeková (Shooting-Trap, our only Tokyo gold medalist) or Jozef Gonci (Shooting, first ever slovak olympic medalist since the independence) are among the SVK NOC elected Commission members.

A historic day for Mexico @mrv86

The only good thing or relevant in any case is the fact is she’s the first woman to lead.

I’ll leave her the benefit of the doubt, but fyi she’s a member of the Congress so probably at one time or another she will be nothing else than a puppet, just like Felipe Muñoz (out only gold medalist in swimming) was 20 years ago.

Danka Barteková should become a member of the International Olympic Committee again :yes

The IOC executive agreed on her nomination at its Thursday's virtual session, which will be officialized at the next IOC session. This will take place in February 2022 in Beijing, shortly before the beginning of the winter olympics. In the past, it has happened quite exceptionally that someone nominated by the IOC executive for membership of the IOC has not been elected in the end. So it looks very promising.

She lost her IOC membership after eight years in office on the last day of this year's Tokyo Olympics Games. But the IOC executive yesterday decided to nominate her for full membership. If elected, According to the current Olympic Charter, she could be a member of the organization until she will be 70 years old, so quite a lot of years to come. :p

Which would be fine, since :SVK need a representative in the IOC and let s be honest there nobody better than Danka and her inteligence, diplomatic skills and disarming charm, to serve also our interests since we started kinda losing our medal events from the program one by one like seriously significantly lately lol

    • Italy will boycott the Azeri stage for protest against the international federation.
    • Likely for Tannheimer, quite unlikely for Galmace Paulin. She's far from being assured to even start in the WC before turning 20. Basically she'd have to get a spot this season, which could actually happen if she takes the extra-ticket at the JWCH. Anyway I don't see her making her way to gold in Oslo. Tänglander has a few seasons to do it, we'll see.       Quite surprisingly so, indeed. Barring her horrendous finish Richard would have made it 2 in one go. We should have some more names in the list in 2025.
    • There are some of Slovakia's finest young squads at the World Juniors in recent years
    • Alpine skiing also we have a lot of problems: the men's team is very weak and has been winning a few podiums a season for several years and the our best skier- Dominik Paris is 35. We still have a strong women's team but 3 of the 4 leaders are over 30 (Goggia, Brignone, Curtoni) and Bassino is 28. Another 2 years and we will have the same problem as the men's. There is basically no cross-country skiing without Pellegrino for many years, biathlon is based on 2 individuals with one of them has a 35 years. Vittozzi's injury was enough and we haven`t a single podium this season after 3 stages of the World Cup. As for 1 year to the home games the situation isn`t optimistic.
    • Hail to the Reds... Commanders. First time since 1991 Washington QB has thrown 5 TD passes in a game (which isn't all that improbable in the modern game alas Dan Snyder...)
    • Italy is much better in alpine skiing, in The end all Nations have a Limited Talent Pool. Norway is far better than Sweden/Finland in Cross-Country skiing, alpine skiing and Biathlon, but Sweden/Finland are far better in ice Hockey.  Great Britain wins far more medals than Germany At Summer olympics, but GB is also inexistant in Winter Sports and Most popular Team Sports (Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Ich Hockey).
    • Thanks, great stat! Tannheimer wont turn 20 until August 2025, so she has The whole Season To Join Kristiansen and Neuner. Too Bad that she was ill this week. I think Galmace Paulin and Tänglander could also do it. I think Grotian (born 2004) is The First female Biathlete born after 1999 To make a World Cup Podium. On The Mens side multiple Athletes (Perrot, Giacomel, Uldal) have already done it.   E. Öberg was 22 and a half when she First won.  Dahlmeier was 21 and a half.   Edit: Grotian only narrowly missed The Podium in The Individual at The 2024 World Championships when she was still  19 year old.
