3x3 does have a lot of exotic nations doing better then in the traditional format.

mostly because the traditional powerhouses didn't take it serious YET, things will change if it makes it to the Olympics.

Insidethegames are expecting 3x3 basketball and BMX freestyle to be approved

More positive is that they also believe that madison will be.

But it should become more clear tomorrow!

I hope the madison will be in. I really miss the points race though. Used to be one of my favourite Olympic events across the board.

Great, they are planning to take away quotas from smaller nations in cross-country and road cycling... All to give big nations even more athletes and more medals.

BMX freestyle is a nightmare. They should have pushed for XC eliminator or team relay instead.

Yeah, sadly that includes women's madison. They should have given that some time to develop and add it in 2024, because it was an absolute joke at the world championships. It's all nice and super duper hip to have an exactly equal number of male/female events, but at least add events with a decent enough level. Surely another women's event would have a more interesting field?

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
