Well, he has to focus on the Olympics, it makes sense. I read the interview he did with the Corriere della Sera a few days ago and he mentioned the 100m butterfly, maybe he will just go for the longer event. He is probably trying to figure out which individual competition he can add to his 2024 OG schedule.

I also think his program will probably change quite a bit in the four years leading to LA 2028 (he doesn't seem too enamoured with the 100m backstroke either, I would not be surprised if he left them or treated them as an afterthought after Paris).

well, next year I think he's going to focus on the 100m Free and Back, then he already said some time ago that he will start to explore the 200m back and he hopes (if his knee and hip stay healthy) to take the 200m IM seriously

imho, he should focus on the 100 & 200m free and back only, the IM races will be Marchand's territory for quite some time, I fear

I had really expected :NED Tes Schouten to qualify for the finals this time, after a preseason with constant improvement of her PBs. Let's hope she makes it in the 200m at least.

Looking at the start lists, the men's 800m freestyle list is absolutely insane. Heats 3 and 4 alone could be a finals lineup. A lot of big names are going to miss out

I don't usually watch morning swim prelims, especially in the distances, but I'm getting ready to watch these two 800 heats.

Insane times in the men's 800m freestyle heats. You needed a 7:45.80 to qualify for the final.

:GER Wellbrock is out! :yikes:

Also :AUS Sam Short with a 7:40 prelims swim. :USA Finke is going to have his hands full.

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
