Finished the 4th and final season of 13 Reasons Why this week, pretty strong ending. Then I went to Wikipedia and under the critics header read that apparently there were a ton of negative reviews

Some things, sure, but others were just absolute bullshit :d

Spoiler

The final character dying was considered 'unfair' and people used that as criticism against the show. That is such insane bullshit, the freaking point of the death was for it to be unfair, it was meant to be unfair, that is exactly why it hit.

Another bullshit piece of criticism was the 'school shooting episode', which was deemed 'too realistic' and 'a potential trigger'. Yeah, no shit, the whole point was for it to be realistic. Again, it was an incredibly strong and awful (not in terms of quality, but in terms of genuinely feeling awful) episode that hit exactly where it needed to hit, absolute masterpiece.

I get that these things can be potential 'trauma triggers' for people who've been through actual rape, actual school shootings and so on, but every single person who goes and chooses to watch this show, knows that these things are addressed in a certain way. Every time things are portrayed in a detailed manner (or even 'only' discussed in detail), the episode starts with a very clear warning.

It is absolutely understandable for people to not be fine when watching certain things because of things happening to them, but then either don't watch the show, skip the episode and just read the plot and/or watch it with a trusted person if possible. There are warnings all over the place designed to give you the chance to make the choice not to watch something, don't use it as criticism against the show - the show would be a million times less strong if they toned any of these things down.

What an incredible loss

I can’t believe it honestly. What a horrible fucking year.

This man played so many iconic African American roles. I had no idea he was fighting cancer. My heart pours out for all of his loved ones and friends. He is gone way too soon.

The man who played Jackie Robinson died at age 42 on Jackie Robinson Day

I’m on the verge of tears right now. First we lose Kobe, and then we lose Chadwick. Two of the most iconic African American voices of my generation. It’s just a horrible, unfair, and tragic loss. I have more I want to say, but I just don’t have the words. Now I am crying writing this.

I paid my dues last night to Sir Christopher Nolan and finally returned to the cinema for Tenet. :)

Like with most Nolan films, i will probably need a second watch to fully understand what was happening. He just makes the most mind boggling themes so enjoyable. It was a 2.5 hour movies and i didn't notice the time at all. Knowing that he shoots everything with practical effects makes some of the scenes even more unbelievable. I won't say much, as to not spoil stuff, but there are little things scattered in the movie, that return later on with great writing.

In a time, when we get bombarded with hundreds of VOD / Netflix-esq forgettable films, i'm just glad we still have a few people like Nolan that can bring a big screen main event movie.

I spent 2.5 hour to watch Tenet, and 1 hour to read the commenter's full explanation and another 1 hour to watch explanation video...

Though the idea was interesting and (partially) well done, I'm really not buying that much into the hype. The characters were extremely uninteresting and the movie defied its own logic a few times. Sure some nice scenes, but if it wasn't for the special premise of the movie, it would feel rather boring.

The only person I know who actually went to see Tenet told us (colleagues) not to waste our time with it and said his sacrifice was enough. I'm not very motivated now to go and watch :p

    • Officials persons (include Head) of RLF are still in ban. For example, Vaelbe has spoken even more terrible words but, however, CAS obliged to gave them AIN status. And it's the same situation here - FIL must to implement CAS's decision. But it's not clearly FIL's criterias for AIN status and that too strange
    • For Modern Pentathlon, it's interesting that Africa only gets one continental championship spot, considering how well Egypt does in the event.  (But then again, it's max 2 athletes per NOC per gender.)  Presuming that an Egyptian wins the African CCh, I suppose their performance in the other major competitions will allow the second competitor to come through.

In this perseverance lies our shared strength, our mission to millions of young people for whom sports are a guiding point and a shining star. I believe in our country, in our strong-spirited guys. • I did not think it would happen again but... I created similar post for Paris - 2024 https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/27489-ain-athletes-qualification-for-paris-2024-olympic-games-and-reallocation-of-quotas-post1-updated-1507/#comments  I was not sure if that reallocations would really happen but the reality was even more serious than the expectations. According to this research 43% of the neutral statuses issued by the IFs were fake AIN  - https://razom22.com/neutrality-research/  And the figures are based on the IOC decisions - not on the evaluations by Ukrainian NOC or sport ministry. Right now the situation is absolutely unclear. As usually )) Some notes: 1. Russians will not reject quotas for 2026 as they did for 2024 in judo and wrestling. 2. AINERP may be more loyal to russians due to the new member - Watanabe. His federation issued AIN status to Melnikova who took part in the primaries of the russian ruling party, had phots with Z and e .t.c. 3. I do not expect a lot of reallocations becaues of the total small number of the rus/blr athletes in qualification events right now. 4. BUT, even with these small numbers we see that FIS allowed to compete several incompliant persons.        Short notes from the IOC statement before Paris - 2024:   1. IOC`s decisions to reject quotas are final. 2. IOC`s decisions to approve quotas are not final - new facts may lead to the rejection of invitation. 3. IOC`s decisions cannot be appealed - NOCs were not invited to the Games, so it is a good will to invite individual athletes... or not   russians Sports Athlete(s) Discipline Possible Reallocation NOC IOC Decision + IF reallocation if happened Figure skating Adeliia PETROSIAN Women's singles Stefania Yakovleva Confirmed by IOC Figure skating Petr GUMENNIK Men's singles Davide Lewton Brain Confirmed by IOC belorussians     Sports Athlete(s) Discipline Possible Reallocation NOC IOC Decision + IF reallocation if happened Figure skating Viktoriya SAFONOVA Women's singles Stefania Yakovleva Confirmed by IOC
    • I would say they will not be eligible. But it realy abotut the wording every federation has in its papers. World Aquatics changes their policies several times (especially after Mazepin "solved the issues" persoanlly - as witnessed one russian Olympic champion)   Inoirtnat notes on FIS decisions:   FIS points are frozen for ruissns and belorussians - so the situation is not so complicated for a lot of them. The list of the AIN`s is not final as the list from ISU was. It means that persons mau be not only removed from the list but added as well. I expect russians to try some freestyle applications before the stage in China, for example. FIS has not problems with the deny of visa or entris by the host countries. So they kept the possibility to close the doors for the russians for all the countries as ICF did. No sanctions for this, no removing events from the Olympic qualification list, no host changes,   * * * * * Here is the the relevant extract from FIS papers for Aerials tram event. What do you think?
