Hungary really need to find a way to rest him from the 4x200 prelims.

Well, we got Dániel Mészáros as a potential replacement. He's already a member of the 4x100 free relay and he's only 17 years old, which means that he can still improve on 200 free in the next two years.

Team Bronze on the prowl!

Kotryna Teterevkova with her first senior medal in the 200m Breaststroke

Of course, her season best and PB were far far better than the winning time here, but I'll be glad with a medal at least :p

France gets the relay win with a late push from Wattel. Sweden also gets a medal and Sjoestroem now has more medals than Hosszu at the Euros in their unofficial battle from the last decade+ :p

Since it seems that every option I potentially have to watch swimming (NOS, BBC, Belgian and German TV) entirely ignored the 50m backstroke and 1500m freestyle finals: were they any good or is there no sense in trying to find a replay and I'd better just check the result? :p

the men's 50m backstroke was a good one (and very close)...I think it's worth watching...

the women's 1500m free was a Quadarella one-woman show, with silver and bronze medallists well separated from themselves too...maybe this one is skippable...

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
