No surprise,  and  will play the final on Saturday. The two best teams of Europe for sure. Final will be a though battle, last times Netherlands scored 'only' 1 or 2 goals against Belgium. The Belgian

Belgian women's team in improving very quickly. Netherlands was a bit better today, but I expect a  -  in the final again. Maybe Belgium shows us then what they are really worth.

Today start the first two european championship qualifiers, a series of small tournaments in which teams compete for qualification to the various divisions of eurohockey championships. All of them will be contested during the following two weeks. 

  

Format is the same for all these tournaments: a round-robin, the 1st team qualifies to european division I for 2023, 2nd and 3rd places teams qualify to division II, 4th placed qualifies to division III.  

 

These are the tournaments... as you can see, we'll have some really bizarre match-ups.

 

 

Women

Qualifier A (London) - :ENG:WAL:CRO:SVK

 

Qualifier B (Dublin) - :IRL:POL:CZE:TUR

 

Qualifier C (Vilnius) - :ITA:UKR:LTU

 

Qualifier D (Dunkirk) - :FRA:SCO:AUT:SUI

Tournament B: Ireland qualifies for top division.

Czechia and Poland for division II.

Turkey for division III.

 

Tournament C: 

Italy qualified for top division.

Ukraine and Lithuania for division II.  

No team for division III (Gibraltar withdrew before the tournament but presumably will play in div III next year).

      Back in the 1970s, in the USA, it was called “Modern Rhythmic Gymnastics”   Coming back to edit this, since the sport was miniscule in the USA at that time, it’s probably how the FIG referred to it as well.

      Rhythmic Gymnastics The 2026-27 World Cup series will be part of the qualification process. This will occur after the 2026 World Champs, but before the 2027 World Champs. The top 2 eligible individuals and top eligible group will qualify. This caused a reduction of quotas available at the 2027 World Championships which now offer 12 individual and 4 group quotas.
