Canada 1-2 in the decathlon after the first day.  I, for one, say they've done enough.  Cancel the rest of the events, give the guys a break tomorrow.  :d

The pentathlon is more urban, more youthful and more gender equal anyway.

In all seriousness, Warner needed to crush that 400m to have any chance at beating Mayer.  He'll need a great hurdles tomorrow because javelin, discus and pole vault will hurt him.

Hoping for 2 german medals tomorrow, but it could as well be 0. Looking at how this event is going (bad attendance, bad conditions, bad schedule, too many dopers winning medals), i cant blame any of the athletes for already focusing on Tokyo.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Tokyo? It’s like the Germans are concentrating on Paris.  :roflmao:

If it is virtually impossible for a European athlete to finish on the podium at the 100m races, why isn't it true for the hurdles?

Or is the russian silver a miracle?

Shubenkov is a former World Champion, his silver isn't a miracle ;)

Btw, Wojciech Nowicki has been awarded bronze medal since Halasz's 78,18m throw has been proved to be overstepped in the circle. Since the protest was lodged after the competition ended, he gets to keep his medal too.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
