Whose medal in Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022 would be the biggest fun & joy for you? We only talk about athletes NOT representing your nation.

Recommended Posts

Dorothea Wierer for an individual medal, but also Marketa Davidova, Tiril Eckhoff, Semen Pavlichenko, Dominik Paris and Alina Kovaleva.

Can you do one for own country too? Which medal would be the biggest and joy for you if we talking about own country?

Obviously yes!

Petra Vlhová, as I hope she will win her first Olympic medal. I also have a tendency to support and hope the best for Slovakian athletes and Petra is one who deserve Olympic succes.

I also hope the best for Roland Fischnaller. To see him finally winning a medal at his 7th Olympics would bring me joy.

Early thoughts:

:ITA Sofia Goggia - another gold in DH after this Cortina crash

:SUI Lara Gut-Behrami - gold in SG

:CZE Ester Ledecka - any medal in alpine skiing

:SVK Petra Vlhova - gold in slalom

in men's alpine skiing I like (almost) all of them - so I just want to see great, close rivalry and entertaining races with high level of drama, and let the better man win. The same with men's cross-country skiing and biathlon. And both in men and women speed skating, but here I'd like to see a medal for :DEN or :BEL

:USA Jessie Diggins - at least one individual medal

:SWE Frida Karlsson - at least one gold

at least one surprising gold for :FIN from someone other than their bigger chances, meaning other than Ivo Niskanen or men's hockey team

:JPN Ryoyu Kobayashi - Polish jumpers are so weak this season, so if they can't do it, I would like to see ind gold for him

:ITA Dorothea Wierer - ind gold

:CZE Marketa Davidova - ind gold

a gold for :NZL

and many great performences in ladies and pairs figure skating - let the better ones win

EDIT: :EST Kelly Sildaru, how could i have forgotten her??? ;-)

#TeamMoura-heywoodu

:NED Irene Schouten (speedskating) because of her story outside the ice track...

and :CAN Max Parrot, because I know what he's gone through...

Since my expectations for a Mexican medal are so big, here are the athletes I’d like to see on the podium:

:BEL Loena Hendrickx avoiding a Russian sweep in women’s figure skating or matbe one in Speed Skating

:EST Sildaru

:HUN any short track skater

:LAT Dukurs and any other athlete in luge

:SVK Vlhova

:ESP Castellet in halfpipe

I’ll also be delichted with medals by competitors from :CZE  :DEN  :FIN  :POL & :SLO

I will cheer for figure skating :USA Nathan Chen or :JPN Yuzuru Hanyu whoever shows the best form. And also :ROC Kamila Valieva, a total enjoyment seeing her skating.

    • I will do my best to organise a pairs competition also involving nations from the 4 teams that are eliminated in the first half of the team competition along with the lowest ranked individual nations at the halfway point (end of session 2) to form 8 pairs. Pairs will be balanced so that the highest ranked nation in the competition will be paired with the lowest ranked nation, second highest with the second lowest and so on. All of that will be based on the individual ranking at the halfway point.   This way every nation will have at least interest in some event until the end of the 3rd session.   I will probably base it closely on @mrv86‘s proposed rules, and have sprints every 3 rounds of votes. The pairs with most medals from those 3 rounds get the points along with an extra bonus for medal and points doubles.   I do only have 1 day to organise this now so I can’t promise anything though.

    • The two-woman quota is based upon the "combined" ranking. The 6 best monobob + 6 best 2-woman results are taken into account at the moment (7 once this week's WC race has been raced).  Weiszewski competed in Europe Cup yesterday in the monobob, finishing 2nd, which gave her 110 points. This was her 7th monobob race, so this result replaced her worst (80 points), helping her leapfrog Cernanska by 8 points. At this point I guess she's in a better spot, as she's got the same room for improvement in the two-woman today, while Cernanska probably won't compete that well in the WC.
