Doping Cases and Bans Thread (2016 & 2017)

Recommended Posts

Worst decision, IOC could have made. CAS should be open 24/7. This rule will be overturned easily with respect to Osaka Rule.

Also there won't be any other Whistleblower, after this kick in the face of Stepanova...

Sure, and the clean russian athletes that were gonna be banned and there sacrifices during the 4 year cycle? Or because they are russian they dont have the same rights as other athletes? Banning someone for something he/ she hasnt commited is  hyprocracy. Anyone that tests possitive should fully take the punishment, but banning them beforehand, just fullfills other agendas than only clean sport.

So instead clean athletes from every other country now suffer.  Even clean athletes from Russia will not be taken seriously in Rio.  No one will trust their accomplishments, and worse they will be blamed for taking medals away from more deserving competitors.  Maybe that is unfair to clean Russians, but they have no one else to blame but their own national Olympic committee.

The irony is that Russians believe they are being treated unfairly due to politics, when in reality if this was a small or less powerful nation, like India or New Zealand, they would have been banned months ago when the whispers first started.  The only reason Russia is getting away with this is because it is Russia, and if they want to stop being accused of cheating then they should stop cheating.  The victim card is getting old.

Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases

It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places.
