I wonder what does most members of the so called “Athletes Comission” do besides traveling like sheiks every now and then?

I think there should be a rule in the Olympic Charter and every qualification system that NOC’s can’t reject a place obtained by an athlete, qualified by their own merits (not applicable for universality/tripartite places)

NOC’s could still retain the power to nominate athletes in those cases where quotas are awarded directly to them and they have more national competitors qualifying under the minimum criteria (like swimming, athletics)

Most quotas are awarded to the NOC rather than the athlete.

You also risk the possibility of sport federations not letting their athletes attend the Olympic qualifier or the NOCs telling their athletes "if you want to go, pay for it yourself"

According to Ken Childs, the IBSF had allocated the last quota to Katie Tannenbaum :ISV, which would bring us back up to 91 nations in Beijing.

I wrote the IBSF a strongly worded email saying how unfair it was. Got a reply today saying they will look into it and now look. When there is a will there is a way. Good luck to Katie!

I mean, for what you did, the least Katie should do in return is to come and join Totallympics (and TISC). :d

    • Suspect strongly that the Sultan of  is behind Global Wushu!     Another one is long distance & ultra triathlon.  There are literally millions being paid out in prize money to attract big name athletes from several sports, huge FTA TV coverage but seemingly no prospect of any profit.   And the classic is obstacle racing, which has effectively bought up the ownership of Modern Pentathlon.
    • apparently the Japanese organizers rejected OCA's nice request    now OCA is ordering them to do so in a not-so-nice language https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decision_-_103rd_OCA_EB_Meeting_5ypY8y4.pdf   the last line is very interesting   I knew this for a while, for example that's why Jujjtsu is included in all of OCA events (despite being the worst sport to watch) but good to see OCA admit this. so with the corrupt OCA you can buy your way in. how much they paid the OCA officials for this ?   OK I know Qatar is financially supporting Padel (and UAE is paying everything for Jujitsu) but who is behind Teqball?  ! I don't think Thailand can do that.
    • Important information on team Aerials.   There is no AIN`s team at the start list of the world cup despite of the fact that belorussians have enough athletes to have a team.   https://medias4.fis-ski.com/pdf/2026/FS/8119/2026FS8119SLF1.pdf
    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.
