  1. Eduardo Leite (Rio Grande do Sul) is the first openly gay politician to be elected a state governor in Brazil (he wasn't out in first term). He's right-wing btw.
  2. Fortunately, many states where he's winning don't have a big population. Compared to first round, Bolsonaro is now winning in Amazonas in Minas Gerais, but very thin margin in both.
  3. Btw, that is far earlier than most projections had (Lula was expected to surpass Bolso only with 88% counted votes), although they certainly didn't expect São Paulo and Rio to be so slow in the counting. Bolso still can win.
  4. With 67,76% of votes counted, Lula surpasses Bolsonaro.
  5. That's why the margin has been decreading so slowly. Bolso still can win with these 2 states alone.
  6. 60% of votes counted. Bolso leads 50,10-49,90. 150k votes margin.
  7. So the same as USA, since Biden was far from a perfect candidate. If you want to compare, Lula is basically Biden trying to contain Bolso/Trump damage, but I'm aware many wouldn't vote for him otherwise.
  8. Half of the votes counted. Bolso leads 50,26-49,74. Only 300k votes of difference.
  9. And he's still winning there. If Lula's loses I'm blaming you
  10. Decades of right-wing (or center, sometimes) governments there. Now that PSDB is mostly gone (Alckmin is Lula's vice), they voting for the far right.
  11. 40% counted. Bolsonado leads 50,61-49,39. Bolso's margin is slowly getting smaller, but still a lot of votes to count in São Paulo and Rio.
  12. Btw, today the Southeast region is just as slow and Northeast in the counting. Bolso has many votes in São Paulo (18%) and Rio (16%), while Lula has Bahia (29%) and Pernambuco (18%).
  13. Worrisome that Bolso is leading (by a thin margin) in Minas Gerais. Whoever wins there usually takes the election.
  14. 30% counted. Bolso leads 51,06-48,94.
  15. Exactly, just in my city (in Pernambuco) about 10k voters are from rural areas, including indigenous people. That's why it takes so long to end the counting here.
  16. With 20% of votes counted, Bolso leads 51,5-48,4.
  17. Hard to tell now. Northeast region (where Lula gets most votes) is usually a little behind in the counting.
  18. 10% of the votes counted, Bolso leads 52-48.
  19. BB has been a curse for many teams here, only and didn't struggle.
  20. Rebeca Andrade does a Biles changing her vault midway and out of finals. Well, at least she'll have AA, FX and UB finals. Brazil ends in 2nd ahead of Japan.
  21. did kinda bad in BB (no final for Saraiva), but quite good in FX (currently 1-2 for Saraiva and Andrade). Let's see the other apparatus.
  22. We use a voting machine. It's very quick (today I took only 20 seconds to vote because we also have a runoff for state governor) and results start to be released immediately after the polls close. In about 4 hours we will know the next president of Brazil.
  23. For those who are interested, some results from other countries have already been leaked (not official, but pretty accurate). Of course most countries don't even have a thousand votes, but it's interesting that Bolso lost in some countries where he won in 2018. Biggest margins are in Japan (84%) for Bolso and France/Germany (~80%) for Lula. Bolsonaro: Lula:
  24. If Lula wins today it will be by a very narrow margin. The federal police did 500+ operations today suppressing voters, especially those in public transportations in Northeast (region with most Lula voters). Apparently they're stopping now but we are less than 2 hours away from closing the polls. For a man who defends "liberty", Bolso certainly is looking more and more like a dictator...
  25. This the worse number in 20 years, and 10mi entered this status since the start of his government + no real adjustment of minimum wage in 4 years. I could list a lot of reasons why he is a terrible president, but economy is front and center.
