  1. and it finally happened. Last night. After looong and embarassing 8 years, Košice (the second biggest city of the country) finally returned to the top tier championship, and what a return it was. Yesterday in the 1st round we hosted as the newly promoted team the reigning champion, the arch-rival Slovan Bratislava. More than 5 000 spectators and great atmosphere. despite the final result 0-0 it was a great evening Now hopefully we will be able to avoid relegation, after when we returned from 8 years hiatus lol
  2. Final score of mini-team in Maribor, is 2 Golds and 3 Bronzes Mia Pohánková & Soňa Depešová won our second gold of the games, in the Girls Tennis Doubles. Bravo girls, well done ! So at the end very successfull EYOF for us, unexpected 3 medals in Judo (well, at least 2 were very unexpected, the gold of Patrícia Tománková was not as much while looking at her season so far, she was predicted as favorite for gold, being world ranking #1 in her class, so thanks god she delivered - which is also quite rare for us), 1 gold in Tennis, marching in the steps of last year EYOF successes of the rising star Renáta Jamrichová and that super shocking bronze in Swimming yesterday.
  3. You have a like from me for the time and effort you probably spent looking for all these times in this post.. Yep, that´s one of the main problems of our sport. Our only above level swimmer in the entire history was Martina Moravcová, and only thanks her studies in Dallas. Yes, she was exceptionally talented, but I don´t believe she would have achieved even a third of her successes if she had not gone overseas before. The other main issue is the infrastructure. No money, No fun. I do not know if we have even a single 50m pool in the country, we for sure have only a limited couple of small pools in the biggest cities, I do believe more than half of our population do not even know how to swim (yeah I likely exaggerating here, but you got the point), so it is hard to think high in this sport in such conditions. However, it is not only in Swimming I could write novels about the lack of money, state support consequently bad coaches, resulting in many young athletes losing motivations early and leaving sport etc..., but Anyway, generally, besides Hockey all our sports education and system is outdated and ineffective. When you look at it, the majority of our "above level" athletes in individual sports come more from the family system, so outside of the "national" system.
  4. How is possible that 2 Concacaf teams are in the same group btw ?
  5. Ok. Fair enough. I am an open minded person ...at least some people tend to say, so sure, I will give Cricket a chance at the upcoming AG. but I swear, if the game will last the whole day ! I´ll spam your PM with daily useless whinings
  6. she´s back. Just turned 15 and moving next month to yuesey
  7. I admit, I have zero idea about cricket (zero and half let say about field hockey - I really tried to watch it, trust me, but did not appeal me, sorry found it extremely slow, messy and incredibly unnecessarily long (both the pitch and the play time) to my taste) the only thing I noticed about Cricket is the crazy long amount of time needed for a game, quite hard to understand how this is even considered to be at the OG, while in all other sports the different federations are inventing how to shorten the events to fit with the new "lack-of-attention-generation" aimed by the IOC... but ok. Look, I have nothing against Cricket, If they want and wish, Ok, no issue bro.Go ahead and add it to the games, play a whole month if you want... but do not sacrify other more traditional and more Olympic fitting sports/quotas because of that.. Yes, I know, I can imagine viewers in India, where the sport is super popular will not have problem to watch it.. I just doubt it will be the same in the other parts of the world though... Personally I would even prefer more that Kabadi thing that have more Olympic potential to attract attention worldwidely than ... cricket.
  8. or simply do not try to fix what isn´t broken ... Until Rio 2016 Olympics (for me) everything was fine and (almost) perfectly working, what has been happening since then (Agenda 2020/Herr president Tommy B. inventions) is a complete disaster (for me), killing day by day everything what I loved about the Olympics (for me) and unfortunately, I already know that we are far from over
  9. Cricket ? oh man.. Do they really want bore the audiences to sleep... They already have Field Hockey for that
  10. Amazing. However the time is terrible but yeah a medal is still a medal and btw, Happy Birthday young man Absolutely amazing day for sure for us. We rarely win 2 medals in a day, so 3 is just a science-fiction

  16. since has about as much chance of qualifying for the Olympics in mountain biking through the rankings as I have of knocking down a mammoth. This is going to very likely be the only chance for Peter to fullfil his dream.. and seeing him extending his career for a year on MTB Team Slovakia Cross-Country Men: Peter Sagan Matej Ulík Under 23 Martin Hrtánek Junior Matej Švoňava, Lukáš Vranák, Ján Vierik Viktória Chladoňová, Dorota Vojtíšková E-MTB Men: Martin Knapec Women: Simona Kuchyňková Downhill Women: Vanesa Petrovská
  17. So one last farewell at the end. Nobody know how, but our federation succeeded to convince Peter Sagan for one last dance on the road. And he will end his career just like he started, alone... since SVK did qualify only 1 spot for the road race...
