  1. @Federer91 Fair points, but that still doesn’t change the fact that Bolt’s retests haven’t come up as positive. It is hard nowadays to say with certainty that an athlete isn’t doping. I choose to go with a “innocent till proven guiltily” mindset and generally am willing to give athletes a second chance if they admit to cheating, apologize, change their behavior, and work towards becoming a positive role model.
  2. The difference with Lance was that everyone knew, but they could never catch. As I said, with the amount of retesting that has been done on Rio 2016 and London 2012 samples, there’s almost no way Bolt was cheating. Just because someone is the best in a sport/event doesn’t automatically make them a doper.
  3. We’re thinking about attending the 20km Race Walk . I think me and some of the Reddit Olympics members are going to meetup at a public screen one of the days.
  4. I think we plan to visit the USA House because it sounds like Casey’s family can get us in to some the really special stuff. We don’t know until the games though.
  5. Alright we’ve bought our tickets, booked our Airbnb, and now our booked our flights. The trip is all but happening. I have a few questions that if people could answer that’d be great. First and foremost, we are going to have a layover at Vienna International Airport, so if we’re going to have one night in Vienna what is the best way to spend it (also what’s the drinking age?)? Also, for people who’ve been to the Olympics, what should we expect? What are some neat things to do at the venues or public watch areas? Also, just general information about people’s Olympic experiences for games they’ve attended would be fantastic. We’ve been planning this trip for a few years now, and I want it to be special, so it’d be ultra hopeful to get some different users advice and opinions. Thanks
  6. Thoughts anyone? I’m a huge fan of satire and I use it quite often. However, I know that even in satire lines can be crossed. I’m excited to see this movie, but I really hope the satire is more obvious than normal so people don’t get a picture of Nazis as good guys. All that said, it looks freaking hilarious.
  7. This qualification system isn’t much better than the FIVB’s in my opinion. It should be the top 4 from the World Cup. The best team from each of the five regions. The hosts. Then give us two Olympic qualification tournaments with the best ranked unqualified teams.
  8. But it is the correct way to do football qualification in my opinion.
  9. I think we should also hammer home the opinion that 4th place is the worst by awarding 4th place a bucket of horse **** fresh from the equestrian venue. Talk about a sustainable medal
  10. So what I learned from @bestmen post is that there’s never really been a good FIFA World Cup logo. I don’t have many problems with the 2022 logo. It just doesn’t convey that the FIFA World Cup is a football tournament very well.
  11. 3 shot after a fight broke out at the Minnesota State Fair. A woman was also runover by a car. Story is still pretty murky, but not the way people really wanted to end the holiday weekend.
  12. Now I have to admit that I don’t understand why people have turned their attention to Bolt and gone after him. There is no evidence to suggest he participated in a doping scheme or anything of the sort. Going after Briana and Coleman I get but Bolt I don’t understand. With the amount of retesting on samples that has been done on the last few Olympics there is there is little chance he was doping.
  13. Today was a weird day: 2018 Winter Paralympics - Biathlon: Sitting sprint 2018 Asian Games - Sepaktakraw: Team Regu Group Match 2019 European Games - Opening Ceremony I have a problem. I’m planning on watching some more Asian Games tomorrow, so maybe I have an addiction
  14. Yeah my catholic schools were no where near that nice. Obviously there’s a lot more funding for them and history for them in Ireland too. I’ll admit that it feels weird not to attend school in a uniform or begin the day with morning prayer anymore. I’d say I like the change though.
  15. I had Irish schooling apparently . Everything you said is true to my schooling. To be fair Irish very often = Catholic . I guess catholic schools have adopted the Irish model. The only differences are: 1) in elementary school we got Thursday-Friday off during Thanksgiving and in high school we got the whole week off 2) I only got 2 weeks off for Christmas, but most American public schools get 3 3) I only got 1 week off at Easter, but many schools are getting 2 weeks off now. Also I got a lot of random days off (some holy days and whatnot, so I could attend mass and definitely not say at home and some multi-sports games ). Interesting, American’s don’t take Halloween off even though it’s a big deal here.
  16. For winter: 1980 will always mean the most to older Americans. I’d say our best games were actually Pyeongchang 2018 or Vancouver 2010. for summer: I believe our NOC considers London 2012 as our best Olympics, but really we don’t often have a bad games. Maybe 1980 was our worst performance
  17. Yeah I always get called rich or bougie for attending private school, but I do admit my privilege to be able to do so. My parents are probably well inside the middle class.
  18. The saddest of course being the Track Cycling tandem . Thank God the Paralympics resurrected the event.
  19. Spanish is kind of like that. Everything is best on gender. In a mixed group, the masculine form of the word is used. The grammar is a bit inverted for us English speakers.
  20. Yes I do love the British Sports System. It has a few flaws, but I fell like there are more pros than cons.
  21. Argentina has been increasing its participation over the years though at the Winter Olympics.
  22. Yeah my schools gave some similar reason for the uniforms. My high school’s official reason as well of 2018 was that it was for our protection. In the event of a school shooting the staff would tell the police that anyone out of uniform is mostly likely the shooter. The 20-30 kids out of uniform everyday were probably happy that didn’t happen . We also celebrate “Teachers Appreciation Day” by giving teachers gifts and not being a-holds for a day. Hilariously, we also have “Student Appreciation Day” where teachers generally give students various goodies and maybe even a homework pass.
  23. @Vojthas likes to drop a fully Polish email every once in a while in the company email. You haven’t lived until you wake up to unbridled Polish at dawn.
  24. Yeah I learned English grammar...so anything is possible if I put my mind to it
