rafalgorka got a reaction from Josh in Athletics Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
Some interesting news found on our Polish olympic forum tylko-igrzyska:
The World Athletics Council also approved that seeding for the first round of relay competition at the Paris Olympic Games be determined at the World Athletics Relays Bahamas 24. The event in The Bahamas will automatically qualify 14 teams to Paris, but Council has confirmed that the finishing order of the top eight teams in the Bahamas finals will, additionally, determine first round seeding rights to the best lanes for Paris 2024.

rafalgorka reacted to Werloc in Swimming 2023 Discussion Thread
I wasn't entirely sure, because she is taking it event after event, not committing to everything. She had multiple interviews saying that she hasn't decided if she's taking part and that's why the journalists asked her yesterday to confirm.
There was also a good chance she was not participating if Russia was at the Olympics, since she is a huge activist for Ukraine and had a viral video of her swimming in "blood" where they dyed a lake red for a day.
I believe she is attending Doha though, that's why she skipped the short-course Euros.

rafalgorka reacted to phelps in Totallympics Awards 2023
I must admit it wasn't easy...
in some categories I had even too many names/events in mind that I found extremely difficult to choose only 6 (some times 7, thanks to a couple of ex-aequo)
meanwhile in a few other categories I had the opposite problem, had to dig deep to find 6 really good options
I also tried not to be so "obvious" when possible, but without being "extravagant"
however, this is my effort for this year...

p.s. Wikipedia has a different lineup, but it can't be correct...you just need to watch the total time of each session to understand that the last day is the only one that can accomodate 4 finals instead of 3

rafalgorka reacted to Quaker2001 in Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Competition Schedule
They need 6 days for the rugby tournaments, so that slots in nicely at Stade de France before the athletics competition begins, especially since unlike pretty much any other Olympics, they're not using the stadium for the opening ceremony. The football tournament is spread out over the length of the Olympics, so they put that at Parc des Princes. I can't speak to French rugby, but I know they had the World Cup at Stade de France, so if they can get the big crowds there for the Olympics, it makes a lot of sense to have rugby there
