  1. So even though it's only the 2nd of 4 World Cup Olympic Qualification stops this weekend, it's a very pivotal stop because it is likely the last chance for skaters relying on time qualifications to qualify for the games. It would be shocking if anybody improved on their times at the European stops.
  2. Connor Howe isn't on the start list for the men's 1000m so it seems likely he's dealing with an injury or illness
  3. I see that Tarik van Wieren is entered on the world cup start list tomorrow along side Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes. Maybe still a small chance to qualify a mixed team. The qualification system is very favourable towards smaller countries
  4. I feel like there's got to be something else. We had athletes from Malaysia and Taiwan who were ranked higher than the highest ranked Canadian in the world rankings last year. There were also athletes from Ukraine and Denmark ranked in the top 10. Maybe not qualifying a male these Olympics will serve as a wakeup call.

The Neutral athlete quota in the women's 3000m consists of one Belarusian and one Russian Athlete.   13. Unfortunate fall for the Italian team but thankfully they're in the A division so they'll still pick up a good chunk of points for Olympic qualification.

  18. On another note, Lamarche's time is only 0.09 seconds off of Christine Nesbitt's Canadian Record. I thought she could be a dark horse in this event after her showing at Canadian Championships but I was not expecting anything near that quick of a time. What a showing!
  19. He did win a bronze in the 10,000m at the 2024 World Championships and looked decent the first few World Cup stops last year but completely fell off a cliff after that.
  20. The 200 free actually fits pretty well onto her schedule. She won't have any doubles with any of her other individual events.
