  1. Quick Recap of Day 1 of World Juniors. No medals but a 4th place finish on the girls 4 x 200m freestyle relay. Ella Cosgrove with the fastest split at 1:57.61 which is a big improvement on what she split at Worlds. Boys 4x100m freestyle relay finished 7th. Laon Kim had the fastest split with. 49.33 leadoff. Elsewhere, Dawson wasn't unable to match his prelims performance going 1:00.29 in the semis but still comfortably made it to the finals in 5th. It still ranks him 7th overall this year in the junior world rankings and he'll be in contention for a medal tomorrow. In the girls 100m backstroke, Madison Kryger set a new PB of 1:00.38 to qualify 3rd for the finals. That also ranks 7th in the world this year among juniors. Parker Deshayes also qualified for the boys 100m backstroke final in 8th and was a bit off his PB from Canadian trials.

  4. Oliver Dawson opened up his World Junior campaign with a 1:00.28 100 breast in prelims. Now the owner of 15-17 year old national age group records for the 50, 100, and 200.
  5. Yes, using the world baseball classic would be better. Right now, the reports are encouraging that Major League baseball players will participate in the 2028 Olympics. MLB players will for sure be in the world baseball classic but likely won't be in the premier 12.

  11. With her gold medal in the 400m IM, Summer McIntosh now ranks 7th on the all-time World Championship individual medal rankings. Only Katie Ledecky, Michael Phelps, Sarah Sjoestroem, Sun Yang , Ryan Lochte, and Katinka Hosszu are ranked ahead of her. This was her 8th career gold medal. That now ties her with Caeleb Dressel. This was her 11th career individual medal which is 10th most among all swimmers in history. Along with the names mentioned in the first paragraph, only Yuliya Efimova, Grant Hackett, and Laszlo Cseh remain ahead of her. She becomes the 9th swimmer to win 3 individual gold medals in multiple events. The others are Aaron Peirsol, Adam Peaty, Katie Ledecky, Katinka Hosszu, Leon Marchand, Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Sarah Sjoestroem, Sun Yang. Marchand also accomplished that feat in the same session. She becomes the 5th swimmer and the non-American to win 4 individual gold medals in a World Championships. The others are Caeleb Dressel, Katie Ledecky, Michael Phelps, and Ryan Lochte. She becomes the 3rd swimmer after Michael Phelps and Sarah Sjoestroem to win 5 individual medals at a World Championships. Overall, this was the 2nd greatest meet a swimmer has ever had after Phelps in 2007. A meet for the history books for Summer McIntosh.
