  3. Oh dang, did not have two Chinese athletes medaling in the 50 free on my bingo card
  4. That is the first women's event this meet without an American medal
  5. Coetze with a medal in every backstroke event. Definitely the best male all-around backstroker.
  6. Medley relay lineups: Men: Tierney -> Dawson -> Kharun -> Liendo Women: Masse -> Angus -> McIntosh -> Ruck
  7. Devin Heroux mentioned that Jankovics is sick. Unfortunately the sickness the US team got has been spreading around other teams as well and one of our swimmers finally fell victim to that unfortunately. Maybe some other swimmers who didn't scratch also were sick. We've been pretty lucky otherwise. Australia, for example, did not fare as well.
  8. Another relay favourite bombs in prelims and fails to advance. This time China in the men's medley relay. Every leg underperformed.
  9. After those heats, definitely. Now the question is whether or not they can podium. Likely Liendo will be on freestyle and Dawson was also around half a second faster on the mixed medley relay so there's room to make up some time. China bombing in prelims definitely helps. Australia not qualifying isn't surprising. Their backstroke and breaststroke legs are too weak. Of the teams in the final, we should be comfortably ahead of the Netherlands and Korea. Should be better than GB as well with Tierney's backstroke form. France will likely bring in Marchand for the breaststroke and switch Grousset to butterfly so I think they'll end up being better than Canada in the finals. Now for the teams that finished ahead of Canada, I don't see us beating Russia. It actually might be possible to finish ahead of the US given how inconsistent their men have been these championships. They likely used their A team as well in prelims. We were close to Italy but they'll likely bring in Ceccon for the butterfly leg so they look in good shape. Fingers crossed I guess
  10. I'm guessing Summer will be swimming butterfly. Or if not her, then Harvey on butterfly and Ruck on freestyle.
  11. Medley relay lineups for prelims: Men: Tierney -> Dawson -> Kharun -> Gaziev Women: Masse -> Angus -> Jansen -> Harvey
  12. There is a 12 year old that finished 4th. We'll have to see how she progresses over the next few years.
  13. With another bronze medal, Summer McIntosh now has 10 career individual world championship medals to her name. She's the 14th swimmer in history to do so and she's tied in career individual medals with Cameron van der Burgh, Regan Smith (who won another medal today), Daiya Seto, and Federica Pellegrini. She becomes the 19th swimmer to win 4 individual medals in one world championship. The others are: Caeleb Dressel Claire Curzan Grant Hackett (x2) Hayley Lewis Ian Thorpe Katie Ledecky (x2) Katinka Hosszu Kirsty Coventry Kristin Otto Laure Manaudou Matt Biondi Michael Klim Michael Phelps (x3) Regan Smith (x2) Ryan Lochte (x2) Sarah Sjoestroem (x3) Shirley Babashoff Tracy Caulkins
  14. Actually she was 2nd her first time at Worlds in 2022. She was 4th in 2023. But yes, still an incredible result to be a bronze medalist in your 5th or 6th best event.

  23. Really a shame. 50.09 is a still a reeeally good time. It's just that the Europeans showed up big time this year.
