  1. Cool Although, no experience in any sport, at all..already way over 30 years of age..I'm not giving him a high % to make it I think
  2. But those 3 things are 3 versions of the same language or something like that? Like some sort of accents, but with a big enough difference to have it's own name? (like Dutch-Flemish)
  3. I think I'll just stick with my learning of basic Korean for now
  4. This Ferrari, Renault, Sauber, Manor are still extremely easy to identify and to be fair, most others are quite easy as well There was a time where you had Brawn/Mercedes/Williams/Sauber/Super Aguri/Force India all with mostly white or something comparable, at least there differences are pretty clear again nowadays
  5. ekavski, ikavski and ijekavski...this is all more confusing than I had expected
  6. I was always hoping Minardi would beat them I don't even remember why, I guess it was mostly me being for Minardi than against Jordan, because I know I've always liked Eddie Jordan The good old days, I miss Minardi..I remember how unbelievably awesome it was when Jos Verstappen "won" the 1st free practice/first qualifying session in France on a drying Magny-Cours After Max Verstappen's win in Spain this year, no way we (Dutch F1 fans) will ever get a bigger moment of celebration and "unbelievable feeling" than we had this year in May during the Spanish GP
  7. Lucky Strike --> BAR Ah man, I was such a BAR/Button fan in those days, I don't even really know why but I think it had something to do with an intense hate of Alonso and his dominant Renault team
  8. Thanks I'll get to learn some basic words then, always good to learn a little bit from many languages
  9. How many "obscure" former F1-teams do you guys recognize? http://wtf1.co.uk/quiz-can-name-obscure-formula-1-teams/ I scored 7/10, although to be fair, one of them was just a lucky guess
  10. Obviously But if it does, this would be a pretty cool event
  11. I remember watching that and I liked it If canoe slalom was ever to disappear from the Olympics (I hope it doesn't, but you know, it's so insanely expensive for a few days of competition so I guess it's possible), this could be a pretty cool replacement
  12. Exactly, and that's such a shame. I mean, it's a perfect opportunity to experiment with things (the cross-country cross in Lillehammer was really quite awesome) and I have no problem with that. My problem is with all the useless mixing of events and men/women and adding mixed competitions in every damn sport
  13. Ah come on, why do they want to mix absolutely everything at the youth Olympics? This is almost like that useless cycling competition that's a mix of a few athletes doing all kinds of things that have nothing to do with their actual discipline.
  14. Speed skating and hockey megapowerhouse to be exact I mean, we should dominate ice hockey
  15. Cool! And when we win, how many more tournaments and stuff do we have to win to make the miracle happen?
  16. Awesome And if I'm right, we'll play in November in one of those two tournaments?
  17. Users from the Balkan nations: I found a book in our garage which is mostly about the conflict in Serbia/Kosovo at the end of the 1990's, you know what I mean. In it, there are some lists of words, like a little dictionary for the users of the book to translate some basic stuff into Serbo-Croatian. Now I'm not much of an expert and internet doesn't provide me with a clear enough answer to my curiousity, so: if I learn a few of those basic words which I found interesting, to who exactly can I say stuff like "Hello" and "Thanks"? I did notice "Hvala" was in there which I already know is "Thanks" (in Serbian? Not sure exactly, I know ski jumper Jaka Hvala's name means 'Thanks' in some language), but since I didn't know something called "Serbo-Croatian" existed, it got me curious as to how much it's actually used in every day speech
  18. Wait, 19th? We have a team? And they're still in with a theoretical chance to qualify?
  19. Yes, "tempo race" is what I saw in Dutch, but I had no idea what it is and how to translate it since in Dutch it would mean something like "a race with a consistent speed" There's some basic elements an "all-round" competition needs in my opinion: - A pure, individual sprint event (like a flying lap or a 500m time trial, definitely not longer than that) - A pure, individual endurance event (like a 5k pursuit/time trial or something, definitely not shorter) - A mass start sprint event, which basically means keirin - A mass start endurance event with a serious length, 10km is nothing Then you've got all 4 elements: mass start and individual + sprint and endurance = the best all-round track cyclist.
  20. Yes, this month's European championships will have this new omnium, albeit in a bit different version: 1. Scratch 10km 2. 'Speed race' 10km (no idea how else to translate it) 3. Elimination race 4. Points race It'll have the women's madison as well.
  21. That is freaking annoying Now I'll always read Singapore's name as "Summer Grand Prix", "Speedway Grand Prix" or even worse, "Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij", the insanely strict Christian political party here in the Netherlands (not a big party nationally, but nearly the biggest in my little overly Christian town )
  22. Netherlands Ilse DeLange - Next to me Forgive me, I seem a little careless I’m trying, but I’m still so new to this I’m learning, that I need to let it, let it, let it be But I’m scared, somehow I will mess it up That my faith in love will never be enough But your voice picks me up and rescues, rescues, rescues me And everytime I try to see I am losing sight of what is really there (Chorus:) I just want to feel like a ship on the ocean, flying like a bird, floating in the air, We don’t need to chase any destination, baby We can end up anywhere You can be the anchor that keeps me grounded, You can be my song and a summer breeze, We don’t need to chase any destination, baby don’t care where we’re going As long as you are next to me You’re strong, it’s everything I’m leaning on Your hands, they keep pulling me along if you show me I promise I am listening, listen, listening Feels crazy, but I think we’re breaking ground Feels love is something we have simply found Lets put it somewhere we can keep it, keep keep it, keep it safe ’cause when I’m holding on too tight I am missing out on what is really there (Chorus) I just want to feel like a ship on the ocean, Flying like a bird, floating in the air, We don’t need to chase any destination, baby We can end up anywhere You can be the anchor that keeps me grounded, You can be my song and a summer breeze, We don’t need to chase any destination, baby Don’t care where we’re going As long as you are next to me As long as you are next to me As long as you are next to me
  23. Does anyone know which songs the Netherlands has already used in the past in the open contest? I'm not sure anymore
