  1. sure, the format is confirmed by the Italian National Federation...
  2. by the way, next saturday in Doha all the top specialists are expected to show up... also our star Gregorio Paltrinieri is announced among the participants (he swum in Qatar also last year, tbh)... races are scheduled @ 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. (women and men's, respectively)
  3. yeah...I don't really understand FINA... why always schedule 20% of the entire Series with no chance to have the top swimmers? Lac St.Jean is always in the schedule...I don't remember the last time they didn't have that location among the stops of the Swimming Marathon Series (nor the last time the top swimmers entered the Canadian Summer events)...

  6. yeah, I watched Russo's bout in the QTFs vs the Armenian guy and I couldn't trust my eyes... he started strong and then he could keep up with their opponent for the entire match...Russo's tactics has been almost perfect...he only made a little mistake towards the end of the 1st round, but it only cost him 2 points (from 4-1 to 4-3)... in the second round basically nothing happened...he was never in danger and he also got a nice passivity point gift towards the end... Nikoloz, on the other hand, just destroyed Omarov in their QTFs match-up...he took advantage of an early passivity of the Russian-born Czech and then he rolled him around to score 8 more points and quickly close the bout... now, I don't think Russo would go further, but I hope Nikoloz can beat also the true Russian in the semifinals and get a chance to face the great Aleksanyan in the big final...
  7. naaa...Triest is relatively close to SVK...and the hotel rooms are paid by the organizers...
  8. OK...but I still hope that you won't end up playing ITA in the decisive semifinal match...
  9. they don't know it...they have reserved 2 places for Asian teams...if they won't participate, their slots will simply remain empty (like the other teams that withdrew from Africa and Pan-Am)...
  10. Olympic Qualification Tournament (Rotterdam, NED, March 22nd - March 29th) Preliminary stage draw Group A Greece Montenegro Georgia Canada Brazil TBD (Asia #1) Group B Croatia Russia Germany Netherlands Argentina TBD (Asia #2)
  11. both men and women's tournaments have the same format: preliminary groups, then the top 4 in each group advance to quarterfinals, QTFs winners advance to semifnals and there will be also placement finals... women's tournament has 2 quota up for grabs, men's tournament has 3... this is the full draw of the women's tournament (Triest, ITA, March 8th - March 15th) Group A Italy Netherlands France Slovakia TBD (Asia #2) Group B Hungary Greece Israel New Zealand TBD (Asia #1)
  12. Melbourne Aces win their first-ever Australian Baseball League title The Melbourne Aces secured their first Australian Baseball League (ABL) title. Melbourne made the best-of-three championship series as short as two games, sweeping the Adelaide Giants 4-3 and 6-2. Jon Deeble, who managed Australia to an Olympic silver medal in 2004 in Athens, was the skipper of the Aces. Game 1 turned out to be a real baseball drama. Melbourne entered the ninth and final frame leading 2-1. Adelaide scored two in the top of the inning, but Melbourne came back and walked it off with a couple of runs in the bottom half. Veteran catcher Allan de San Miguel, who will retire after this season, scored the go-ahead run. Reliever Jon Kennedy earned the win. Game #1 Stats https://theabl.com.au/game/622867 Game #1 Highlights (unfortunately Game #1 Full Replay isn't available...and I dont know why?) The Aces won the title clincher, 6-2, backing with 11 hits a strong start by left-hander Wes Helsabeck. A two-run home run by Shane Robinson off David Holmberg opened the score in the third inning. Reliever Jon Kennedy closed it off. Game #2 Stats https://theabl.com.au/game/622866 Game #2 Full Replay The Melbourne Aces earned their first Claxton Shield, the trophy awarded to the winners of the top baseball competition in Australia since 1934. The trophy is the legacy of Norman Claxton (1877-1951), a prominent figure in cricket, Australian football, baseball and cycling, who donated it. Claxton was inducted into the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame in 2005.
  13. good psychiatrists would have troubles to explain certain things... how the hell did he come out with this absolutely mad idea?
  14. doping makes sense (even if it's always a disgrace...and illegal)...but antidepressives...c'mon! what's the help those medicines can give to a horse? did Sangiorgi's horses maybe have suicidal tendencies? because if it was to have them just a bit calm on the competition area, there are way more effective products than antidepressives...
  15. it looks that this proposal was immediately taken with great enthusiasm by players... https://nypost.com/2020/02/10/trevor-bauer-destroys-rob-manfred-over-radical-mlb-postseason-proposal/ p.s. I agree with Bauer at 200% Manfred is big a disgrace for Baseball as people can't even imagine...I wonder if he has ever made something good for the game since he's the Commissioner of the MLB?
  16. Simon Maurberger...ACL and outside meniscus (left knee)... about Shiffrin...according to multiple US sources (among the media) it's very, very unlikely to see her in Kranjska Gora... and La Thuile + Crans Montana were already out of her schedule... I wonder if we'll see her again on the slopes this season? p.s. personally, I understand very well her feelings...and I wouldn't be surprised, should she decide to take a very long break before coming back...
  17. Greco-Roman Wrestling Day #1, Gold Medal matches -55kg: Edmond Armen Nazaryan vs Vitalii Kabaloev -63kg: Ibragim Labazanov vs Maksim Nehoda -77kg: Zoltan Levai vs Sanan Suleymanov -87kg: Semen Novikov vs Viktor Lorincz -130kg: Alin Alexuc Ciurariu vs Levan Arabuli
  18. actually, it's available as always... just look at the weight class page and watch the stream of the respective mat... you have the contest number (for instance, here) https://unitedworldwrestling.org/event/european-championships-19?tab=results and then you can easily see when it's the right time of your favourite wrestler, as the number of each contest is in the graphics of each stream for each mat...
  19. yes, that potential discard is going to prove really decisive in the end...and I fear it will cost Ukraine a place in the top 4 and indirectly it will cost Hungary a place at the Olympics... however, tbh, I don't like those discards...I'd rather keep all the scores through the OQP...
  20. traitors! all of you, guys! what a shame! you are all going to be blacklisted right now! how can you not love the most beautiful and exciting sport in the world? and don't try to fake you don't know it's (Ice) Hockey!!!
  21. yes, but for the boys it's only a matter of time...after the next event, they surely will get their place at the Olympics... meanwhile I fear that the girls are going to blow it up...
  22. updated as of February, 9th 2020...
