  1. I don't know why there's so much people against alcohol? there are so many alcoholic things that are so good...for instance, I just drank for dinner such a good wine (Grecanico, white Sicilian, for those who know...and for those who don't know, just try...I'm sure you'll appreciate a lot, especially with vegetarian and/or fish related dishes) and I also just had a good Whiskey "on the rocks" to end my evening "in style"
  2. Surf is perfect for a delayed summary, live broadcasts have too many empty moments, especially in the decisive rounds, when the available time is longer than in the prelims. I don't agree. if (and it's a big if) the broadcasting director has a good experience and knows the subject quite well, open water swimming is quite enjoyable. sailing can also be very spectacular, but it's necessary the help of a lot of modern technology (and once again, a very experienced director and a good type of boats, capable of sailing at high speed with reasonably strong wind). for surfing, see above. that's just my opinion, of course. I'm not the owner of the truth.
  3. well, maybe they will never get the Olympic status, but Cards and Billiards are fully recognized "Sports" (and surely they are closer to being true sports than breakdance, artistic swimming, rhythmic + trampoline gymnastics and things like that). so, one day they might actually become Olympic sports. p.s. for what counts (so, nothing at all), I don't think Cards games should be considered full sports, meanwhile Billiards are another story.
  4. Day #1 Group A vs 2-1 vs 3-2 Group B vs 3-1 vs 0-0
  5. yep! it's a very well known tactic...it's called "piagnisteo preventivo" (= "preventive whining")... it works more often than not
  6. thanks, I made a bit of confusion between the old and the new rules 🤦😤
  7. but you have to play with 2 of the best players in the whole Continent (actually, in the whole World outside the US players).
  8. they're "reserved" for the Host Nation. if qualify more fighters than the available places minus the wild cards, those will be reallocated at the end of the qualifying process (they should go to the World ranking)
  9. Messeman finishing her career without a title would have been a crime against the sport. well deserved gold medal for the Belgian girls.
  10. and finally... are the new European Champions in women's Basketball!
  11. it should be 4 men and 3 women's wild cards for if I remember correctly. the remaining spots must be earned through the regular OQTs.
  12. very tough task for Malanga, especially after today's clash between Cavallaro and Walsh. I can smell shamrock all over
  13. the unused quota places will be reallocated before the final OQT
  14. but now they're ahead with 2 mins to be played...
  15. poor result for the Italian team hope we'll do a lot better in Kickboxing (it should be easy, given how bad MT went).
  16. despte matching the OQT, De Tullio's clockings are far away from what our NF required to qualify for the world champs. I don't think he'll be selected by our coaches, but he might still sneak in into the team. we'll see what the technical director would eventually decide (the World Champs team should be finalized by Tomorrow). as already written, for no time recorded this year is going to count towards the Olympic Qualification, only the medallists at the World Champs would have a "bonus" (but not a direct ticket) for next year's Olympics.
  17. very, very tough bout between Cavallaro and Walsh in the men's -71kg. finally, it was the Italian to get the call by the slimmest of margin. tbh, I didn't expect that.
  18. but they kicked our footballers out of the last World Cup that's way better than any medal in any sport
  19. have a girl in 2nd place midway through the women's 25m Pistol. if she can keep the pace and get a medal, it would be a huge sensation. morally have a gold medal in Karate, thanks to Alvin Karaqi, who just switched to this year, after a long career for his native Land.
  20. sorry...double post, I didn't notice that @Vektor already updated his original effort
  21. Lenzerheide, Nove Mesto and Val di Sole are just on another level, but yeah, good job by the Polish organizers to build a very good bike park like this. unfortunately, I just can't say the same for the TV production...really awful job, I must say.
  22. finally a good result! nice to have a quota place secured before the World Champs. however, she's not a true medal candidate at world level (while Santoro could become a real gold medal threat, if only our coaches would trust him instead of being the usual Italians, always saving the veterans' ass instead of pushing the youngsters to a new dimension )
  23. looking at the results, we could (should) have left home also the men's sabre specialists
  24. I have no idea why the took this decision. I think I'll never understand what's in this people's mind. by the way, this painful agony is over. Cipressa can fly home with the first plane available.
  25. or maybe not...Cipressa is too much of a loser to keep the team on her own shoulders
