  3. expected rebound effect for vs the Host Nation of pool A as I wrote quite some time ago, we're too weak on the mound...we used the only 2/3 good pitchers we have yesterday vs and Today we paid the prize. the only decent performance came from Stephen Woods (should I write Giuffrè -his real Family Name, Woods is just the Family Name of the man who adopted his father, a true Sicilian guy- when he went to live in the States), who still gave away a 2-run HR on one of his last few pitches. Castellani, Biagini and Marciano just unwatchable, especially Biagini should be named a traitor tbh, this team is nothing special...I consider today's loss a truly wasted chance to build a great tournament for us. on the other side, great show in Tokyo, with starting strong against Darvish, but after some sleepy early innings, showed why they are the favourites to win it all. now are basically already on the plane coming back to Seoul, unless decide to commit suicide vs weaker teams like and .
  4. Italy beat Hungary 9-8 in Today's top match of group A
  6. however, let's see how many Countries allow them to actually enter their territory to participate to the competitions... hope Italy (where the world champs will be held in July) is not one of those.
  7. just another compromised sports federation. just another sport with no more respectability and credibility. hope Italy would eventually boycott this decision and won't allow any Russian (nor Belarussian) member (athletes and officials) to enter our Country when it comes July (remember, the World Champs are scheduled to be held in Milan, ITA).

  11. the most disappointing bronze medal ever for Monna. but man! you just can't afford to start a final with an 8.x and shoot another couple of those sh*tty 8.x through the competition...

  14. once again, taking home some great results in the junior events... will they be able to translate them into good results at the senior level sooner or later?

  19. dreams sometimes come true! wonderful start of the tournament for the Blue Team, with the great Mike Piazza managing to perfection and taking some brave and unexpected decisions about our pitching staff that helped to keep the Cuban hitters at bay for almost the entire match. on offense, still too many aggressive swings early in the count...we shouldn't have left Elias to pitch that long, wasting so many at bats. on the other hand, the great Iginio Velez is still turning over in his grave on how the Caribbean team played and also on how the game was managed by their coaches. they blew their pitchers out when they were still trailing/the game was still tied and called on the mound the same Garcia that yesterday blew their game vs in the 10th. don't they really have anybody better than him? and if the answer is "yes", why exposing him to the pressure of late innings once again instead of lettimng him pitch earlier, when any mistake wouldn't be so decisive on paper? not to mention the absolute disaster of their supposed MLB superstars (Moncada and Robert) with their bats in both yesterday and today's matches. moreover, why leaving a man like Gracial on the bench, using him just as a pich hitter when the game was already dead and gone? meh... however, the hype is getting higher and higher...can't wait for tomorrow's clash vs the Home team
  20. and are clearly the best in this field... the other teams are basically all on the same level, it will be up to any given day's shape (and luck). women's basketball Europeans always end up with a few surprises...teams you wouldn't expect on the podium and teams you would expect doing well having epic fails. for it's about time to translate their amazing results in the youth classes in the past 5/6 years into something remarkable also at the senior level. not making at least the top 5 would be a huge disappointment (which could easily happen, our basketball girls are quite famous for flopping when it really matters).
  21. so far, no news about Chamizo in the Italian media, which could be good news... I'm pretty sure that if he gets DQ for that, the news would quickly hit the headlines of the sport websites and not only those ones. let's wait and see...a bomb like that won't take a lot of time to explode. personally, if it happens, it would be the most painful sport disappointment since the Schwazer sh*t just before London 2012. most likely, it would be another (the last?) push to stop following any Olympic sport...
  22. when it comes the WBC, the Dutch doing the Dutch... expect the unexpected from them...
  23. yes, I have nothing against Baseball games going long when they're exciting, especially in the late innings. but it wasn't the case of yesterday's match...too many stints of boring non-action to appreciate it. vs game earlier this morning was just on another scale (and I don't mind that going on for almost 4 hours). p.s. the main feeling was the difference going from MLB Spring training (with pitch clock) to WBC (with the old rules)...it was really a tough hit to take. I didn't imagine I could get used to the "new flow of the game" so fast. in any case, I still think that the MLB rules need to be adjusted, giving the hitters a few more seconds to get ready in the batters' box and not using the pitch clock at all in the 9th (and extra) innings when a match is close enough (let's say 4-run difference or less).
  24. horrific performance by Cuba and Chinese Taipei. Cuban hitters looked still completely asleep (Noon start doesn't help for sure). the Host team was just awful in every aspect of the game...pitchers that can't throw a strike in a bath tub and hitters swinging at mosquitos... very curious to watch the Italian team's debut Tomorrow...if the Cuban hitters don't wake up all of a sudden, I think we could even pull out a miracle against them, like the Oranjes did Today. p.s. pitch after pitch, I started to re-evaluate my opinion on the pitch clock...please, bring it to the International Baseball, too
