    Ok. That's clearer. Preciado is called "second flagbearer" (or junior, if you must) and Chocho is still "first"/senior. He received it because of Chocho's ausence but Chocho should still be flagbearer at the parade of nations. EDIT: Way slower, lol

    What a frustrating ambiguous article. Yes, it says Chocho couldn't make it to the ceremony to recieve the flag and Preciado is flagbearer but says nothing about the actual opening ceremony.

    NOCs are suspended for tamer reasons. If state-sponsored doping is not met with the harshest response available let's just call it quits and wait for pokemon go tournaments to be televised. Sucks for the clean Russians, but it was their state letting them down.

    After the whole amateur controversy Jossimar Calvo will be the flagbearer and will leave right after the parade to prepare for his event the next morning. Both Ibarguen and Pajon had refused and they were about to name Gaviria before the Colombian Gymnastics fed gave Jossimar permission. So I guess the asterisk can go lol @hckosice

    Am I too cynical if I think that the IOC response will depend on NBC and corporate sponsors?

    It's a possibility. He said his mandate was just to investigate and the rest is up to the IOC. That could (and should) include outing the medalists involved. But we'll know more in the upcoming days, hopefully.

    There must be legal reasons to not name them publicly. You'd expect McLaren to give the names privately to WADA, IOC and Russia.

    With so many sports knocking on the door that would send their best, 2-3 cycles seem like too much to see if they get their act together. But they should go to Tokyo at least, even in only to be close to "the stuff that matters".

    If they can form a team with them, sure. Otherwise, too bad but the priority should be protecting the athletes that's worked their ass off for 4 years from losing a deserving medal to tools of Putin's vanity.

    The Colombian fed is gonna complain about the referee but I don't see the point, tbh. Chile won, and won well (the shitty conditions played against both sides), but I don't blame Giraldo for giving up the pretense this wasn't a farce. Anyway, good luck in the playoffs.
