This week is played Australian Open 2018 Asia-Pacific Wild-Card Play-Off. Today were played semifinals with great outcomes. Abigail Tere-Apisah got a WC for this event and made the final! All of her opponents were higher ranked than her if I am not mistaken. If she wins in the final, she'll be first ever player from in GS main draw! What a history to be made! Her opponent in the final will be 16-year-old Wang Xinyu from China, very, very, very talented girl, one of the best from generation 2001! If she wins she might even be the youngest player in MD at the upcoming AO. Wang beat Misaki Doi 1-6 6-4 6-3 (not long ago she had a match point at AO 2016 R128 against eventual champion Kerber!!!) I hope Tere-Apisah wins, Wang will have plenty opportunities in the future.

That is the main goal for 2018 - to have regularly updated rankings especially for the knockout rounds since that brings more excitement and is interesting to follow. That is why we will have less prediction contests. I think we'll still have separated Alpine and Nordic skiing since the format of those contests is much easier to manage. Concerning women's handball WC, tuniscof told me he would open the contest but I guess he still has to solve some things in his life, so I believe no one would complain for the missing contest. And yes, it is will be implemented as well - for contest to be opened as early as possible

It won't be problem at all to have both men's and women's ice hockey combined. Also, if there is anyone available to manage men's worlds, it can be included... This year, the emphasis is on WOG and regularity of the results.

Hi everyone! Since the breaking down of the old Totallympics forum we had difficulties with Prediction Contests management throughout last two years. But the new year is approaching and we'll have to learn from experience. - the remaining results of old prediction contests will be posted by the end of the year (either by tuniscof or I'll do it myself) - we'll have Women's Handball World Championship Prediction Contest by the end of the year with results being posted regularly - from now on I invite you all to share your opinion and comments on scoring system and formats for the next year We should have all this set by the end of December. The Prediction Contests Calendar for 2018 will have fewer contests and will need more volunteering managers, especially for second half of the year. Proposed contests for 2018: 1.
