  1. First ever medal for Ireland! Amazing result! Congratulations!
  2. And Downie was robbed of a silver medal. It's like the Americans have a completely different Code of Points only for them where they are deducted only half of what should have been.
  3. Oh, no. Dolgopyot is first on floor. Come on, Dalolyan. You have to win this!
  4. Mexican gymnasts Elsa Garcia and Ana Lago reported that they suffered physical abuse from their French coaches. Poor girls.
  5. Massive respect for Nagornyy! What he achieved today is almost unbelievable. Mikulak jumped from 27th to 7th. What a comeback! And how awesome it is to have a Filipino as one of the top 10 all-arounders in the world? Fantastic!
  6. She was injured on vault. Exactly the same thing that happened to Jade Barbosa. Kara Eaker will replace Ellie Black on beam. The final will be a lot more unpredictable now. We have 5 gymnasts who are able to score over 14, some of them over 14.5. I hope we FINALLY have a good beam final. Since 2014 all beam finals have been terrible. 2015 and especially 2017 are some of the worst ever in the history of this sport.
  7. It would be insane not to show Yulo. As I mentioned, he is expected to win gold medals in the all-around, floor, maybe vault and team. He can also win a medal on parallel bars. High bar, pommels and rings, in theory, are his weakest events, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wins a medal in these events too.
  8. Will artistic and rhythmic gymnastics events be broadcast live? I hope so because Carlos Yulo could realistically win a medal in all of the events. Also, it's always nice to watch Rifda Irfanaluthfi and Farah Abdul. I'm also hopeful for some action in rhythmic gymnastics, especially the Malaysian individual gymnasts and the Malaysian and Thai groups (speaking of which, the Thai group won the bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Cup last year; level was somewhat low, but still nice for them to win a continental medal).
  9. As I predicted, Melnikova won a medal with unrealistic scores, but I'm okay with a medal for her instead of Nina and Black, who were also extremely overscored. I'm worried about Black missing out beam finals now. I hope she's okay. I know I'm very, very salty today, but Derwael just cannot be scored like that. It's insane, it's unfair to the other gymnasts. And Biles is as artistic as a cauliflower. That's me being salty and mean. Yeah.
  10. Melnikova incredibly overscored on beam. Russians are being very favored here. Still, I'm okay with Melnikova winning a medal instead of Derwael. Besides bars, there's nothing else nice to say about Derwael. She is not an all-arounder who should be so close to a medal. This is absurd!
  11. Black 14.000 on beam. Ugh. Just... nope. Moors 13.566 on floor. Why? She deserves more! It's unacceptable that she scores so low while Nina Derwael, of all people, qualified to the finals (instead of Moors). I'm done watching. I'll rant forever if I keep watching this awful display of bad gymnastics getting high scores, and good gymnastics being underscored.
  12. Cintia Rodriguez presented a floor routine with a difficulty score of 4.4. Not even junior gymnasts are expected to go this low. How did she even qualify for the all-around final?
  13. After watching Melanie de Jesus dos Santos' floor routines, I'm baffled at how much overscored she is. It's like they threw the Code of Point out of the window just to score her floor with an unrealistic execution. Her first tumbling pass alone has been credited as worth 0.7, but in every single document regarding execution and attribution of difficulty scores, it is stated that it should be downgraded to 0.5. It might seem like it's not much, but this makes a HUGE difference, especially in the final. I'm disgusted.
  14. With Final Fantasy VII as a PS4 exclusive in early 2020, the PS5 had better have backwards compatibility.
  15. I explained in the thread about general artistic gymnastics. He has a chance to qualify if the results of the next European Championships in men's all around are exactly the same as the ones this year (I mean, if Marios Georgiou finishes as the best or second best non-qualified athlete).
  16. Now that qualification through the World Championships is finished, the next events that offer Olympic quotas are continental championships and the World Cup series. Depending on the results of these events, gymnasts who are waiting for a reallocation spot to qualify through the World Championships might have a chance. I'll try to list the possibilities. Men's artistic gymnastics: I believe that if we have any changes at all, it could only be Marios Georgiou qualifying through the European Championships, what would allow Jessen David to qualify through the World Championships; or maybe, though veeery unlikely, Andrey Likhovitskiy qualifying in an apparatus through the World Cup series, what would allow Tomas Gonzalez to qualify. However, Gonzalez has a decent chance of qualifying through the continental championships, so Andrei Muntean would be next in line. Women's artistic gymnastics: On the women's side, there's just a very small chance of Chusovitina competing at the World Cup series and qualifying through vault, but right now she's not even in a top 10 position. She is known to participate in many World Cup events, though, so she might try to qualify through the World Cup series despite already securing an Olympic quota through the World Championships. Either way, if she decides to do this, Ryan Megan would be able to qualify. Extremely unlikely to happen, though. I honestly don't think any of these things will happen, though.
  17. Singapore's gymnastics federation also posted on Facebook that their gymnast could qualify. She has secured a quota, but they still can't figure this out on their own! The only reason FIG has not confirmed reallocation quotas yet is because they are waiting for the results of the World Cup series and continental championships.
  18. Do you mean getting a quota thanks to reallocation of the tripartite invitation? Very unlikely. According to the results of the World Cup series so far, no one from the reallocation list is currently in a position to qualify in any apparatus. I don't believe that any gymnast who has been reallocated so far has a chance to secure a quota through the all-around World Cup series or through the continental championships, either. This means that, in theory, she needs to hope for someone either getting injured or giving up their quota. I'm not sure South Africa will confirm Rooskrantz's quota. They are very strict in their criteria for allowing athletes to participate at the Olympic Games, and she might not have done enough according to SA's Olympic Committee, but we shall see.
  19. There's no way Kuwait would be chosen. Monaco was selected for the 2016 Olympics, so Matvei Petrov has the best chance, I guess. It was nice for him to switch nationality and keep going. This could pay off for Maria Kharenkova too, who now competes for Georgia and is currently second reserve in the all-around.
  20. Any word on who is eligible for tripartite quotas? One blog stated that and are on the run in women's events. No info about which nations are eligible in men's events.
