There has been a coup d'etat in Brazil, now we have one in Bolivia and I'm not so sure about Chile's future. South America is in danger.

I would rather see groups in rhythmic gymnastics than parkour. I don't know why individual gymnasts are allowed to compete, but not groups. Maybe because of the number of gymnasts involved? 5 gymnasts per group plus coaches, officials and medical staff would require extra 60+ places to accommodate everyone.

I guess the fact that Yulo has become the reigning world champion on floor made a difference here. This will probably be the best edition of the SEA Games when it comes to artistic gymnastics. Rhythmics will not be a huge loss for everyone if it's not broadcasted. Only Thailand and Malaysia are kind of decent (and even this might be a stretch), but it's my favorite sport, so I'm still looking forward to it.

I forgot to add about Croatia: Exodus would have been my personal choice instead of Wonderland. It's one of those songs all artistic gymnastics fans love after Anna Pavlova's 2008 floor routine.

I'm not a fan of the venue for gymnastics. It looks good for a volleyball match, not exactly for gymnastics.

There's always the Pan American Games (or the CAC Games) and the Asian Games (also the SEA Games for Malaysia). I have to say I see no reason for the CWG to exist. It's very embarrassing to watch so many nations playing along by letting an old woman claim to be their queen. I mean, the British invaded their territories, stole natural resources, enslaved and killed a bunch of people, forced the survivors to learn their language and centuries later they want everybody to celebrate by playing lawn bowls.

I've always wondered why Asian nations care about the Commonwealth Games. For India, in special, their top athletes have to compete at their best level at the CWG, Asian Games and the World Championships in a single year. It's a bit too much, especially in sports with world tour or world series. Now, after reading all the comments, I don't think leaving shooting out of the next edition is an anti-India thing. It's just a sport that not many countries really care, except for India. But if there are chances for medals in other events, so why even bother? I don't think any Indian shooter seriously dreams to become the next CWG champion, so just focus on the World Championships and the Asian Games. For India to threat dropping out of the Games entirely is an overreaction, and an almost childish-like attitude (unfortunately I've come to expect that from Indian sports representatives).

According to Wikipedia, the organization of the sport is very confusing. Two federations organized world championships, then merged, then a new federation emerged and claimed the rights to organize the sport, instead of the one that resulted from the merge. It looks like FIG has a new sport to try to steal from other federations.

I don't get it. If it's too easy for India to get medals at the CWG, why are they so angry about losing a couple of medal chances? In theory, there are plenty of other chances in other sports, right?

It means gold in Japanese, so I was slightly worried about someone playing football or handball with a huge metal ball that could potentially cause a concussion should it hit anyone's head.

I didn't even know about this. It's especially bad for Brazil because the government takes this competition very seriously, given that most of our top level athletes in minor sports are members of the military.

Overall, I'm massively disappointed with this competition. I expected quite a lot, but the level was very questionable in some events. In artistic gymnastics there were some important names, but the Chinese gymnasts were massively overscored from what I could see. The problem is that almost all of the judges were from China, so the scores were very biased towards home gymnasts. I am aware that this was a demonstration sport, but I hope it will not be officially added to the program in subsequent editions of the Military Games, unless there's commitment to scoring fairly the gymnasts in the future. Tennis was a demonstration sport too and it also suffered with a very small field. Poland even got a medal because one of the teams did not show up for the match. Diving was a joke. Brazil got three medals, but I feel ashamed for these medals. Two medals came from team events. In these events, the eight highest scores from previous events were counted, but Brazil only got medals because the teams behind Brazil counted seven scores or less (I mean, they did not even bother to start in eight events), while Brazil counted eight. The other medal was a bronze medal, but there were just three pairs competing. This also happened in Archery, where France won gold, silver and bronze in women's para archery because no other country bothered to compete. Still, it's nice to have para events in this competition, so I will not even complain about this one.

I'm not so optimistic about this tournament. And we all know Diaz from Puerto Rico is a huge favorite for the individual woman's title.
