Great result for Ellie Black from Canada! Just a third of a point off the podium!

Great result for Ellie Black in gymnastics! 5th, just a third of a point off the podium. So close! (though gymnastics is a sport were unknowns rarely win...for some reason).

What does that mean?
There were three close calls on crucial points, all went to Spain. There were no replays so I'm not sure if they were the wrong calls, but one of them was obviously wrong and it was right in front of the ump. Nestor really wasn't happy.
-
Well, our guys will go for bronze tomorrow. Some very 'interesting' calls on the court unfortunately. I'm getting pretty sick of Canada being the nice guys always screwed over by the officials because they can. Oh well.
Also, our lady cyclists looked really discombobulated today.
-
Well, the Canadians looked like crap.

With some help from the refs, Nadal/Lopez into doubles final
I'm just watching the tennis feed on the CBC website, but they didn't show any replays (very frustrating). Were there better replays on another stream? Because at least 2 of those looked very...interesting. One of them, unless the ump missed it and just guessed, was a very very suspicious call.
-
.I don't have a replay on my feed, but that's three crucial points that were very close with all three going Spain's way. Not saying they were the wrong calls, but man. Can't catch a break.
-
Alright, alright. Still in this thing. I obviously spoke too soon (happily).
-
Wow, I'd like to see the replay, but on my computer it looked waaaay in. Ridiculous, right in front of the ump, too.
-
Well, that was fun. Nestor and Pospisil came out strong, but faltered later on. Still a chance at bronze.
EDIT: Okay, they're putting up a fight still.
-
The Canadian golfer's caddy is a former hockey player. Because of course.

A great sign for this sport is that five continents were represented in both semis (Europe, Africa, Oceania, North America and Asia). And Argentina isn't too far back, either. Much better global diversity than many other team sports.

Yes, delay was due to that only. Hence I was saying that organizers should have swapped the match, so Nadal gets deserved rest and schedule moves fine.
No. No rest for Nadal. Don't even allow him to sit down.

Considering that almost full day of play was lost yesterday, I think it is silly, that they will leave the court empty for an hour. They should have swapped the match with the next match.
Maybe because Nadal just finished his singles match, too? I'm not that familiar with tennis.

Apparently Nestor/Pospsil semi in tennis is scheduled for 2:15pm EST.

We always have great love for each countries, plus personally I travel to Canada quite a bit- actually snowboard a lot, and Canada has a lot of places I can go off course (safely of course). People in Canada are the friendliest too, genuinely love life I guess.
I took a 5 week trip up the East coast of Australia a few years ago in a camper van. Beautiful country, lovely people. A bit expensive, though. Had so much fun, though.

When is Bouchard apologising to me for my unfortunate thing of having to watch her in the Wimbeldon final lol
Candadians are great sports! If Australia doesn't win I love it when Canada does...plus you have the best anthem ever!
Awwww, thanks.
Since the Aussies are the biggest rivals to the Americans in the pool, I often root for them, too.

Hahahahahaha
CBC just formally apologized for this comment.
And now Byron (the commentator) just apologized again. You know you're Canadian when you keep saying sorry.
-
I'd say that's a statement by Canada's women's eights.

Just wow Oleksiak is a star. She could have won a medal in the 200 free too.
Too bad she has no more swims left besides the medley relay. She's in the 100m free final tomorrow. She qualified 2nd, just 0.01 behind.
-
Canada earned 4 swimming medals (in the pool) in the last 4 Olympics. They have 4 so far here in Rio.
So my apologies to everyone else for us Canucks gushing all over this forum. We're really just amazed. -
Geez, didn't even realize how close Canada was to the Aussies. Half a second. Canada: Swimming powerhouse?

Well now it seems like the best they'll do is bronze. GB looks unbeatable (again).
