2019 AFC Asian Cup draW

there is no group of death but I believe group B and E are a bit tougher and then group F. even tough with 24 teams format all top teams will advance to the next round.

what the hell ! How could this happen in the middle of an international competition ?
this is great if they want to have peace but can't they just start from somewhere else ? and not with this stupid unified team idea in sports competition ? they can have their unified team when they merge their countries into ONE. not now. I also heard they want to have a unified team for the Asian Games later this year !

Vlasov is master in big throws like this, he was waiting for that chance and took it. but I'm not agree with the caution, Nemes was not passive at the time. I would give a second caution to Vlasov to be honest. not a robbery because it was a close decision which usually goes in favor of Russia.

Yep. new rule since 2018.
because they want one day to "promote" the finalists for the 2nd day. we saw how they promote today by having such a great website.

well hard to say. wrestling is a different sport with this new weight-in rules. I don't know how much these guys cut to make the weight, that's a big big factor.
55; I only know the Azeri guy Azizli. even the Russian guy is new for me ( a bit lazy to check their junior records) so I guess Azizli is my pick here
63, again I'm going with the Azeri guy Mammadov. even though he has Russia in 2nd round. we have Olympic medalist Berge from Norway on top half but I don't really consider him a great wrestler. he is just a tough guy.
77; the great Roman Vlasov is back. he has his dark horse Mursaliyev in top half but I think Vlasov will beat him this time. the bottom half will be between Lorincz and Nemes. Lorincz is good in par-terre (which is a new addition per new rules) Nemes has to be careful not getting a caution, Lorincz can score big if you give him the chance being on top. Nemes has a tough draw actually he has to beat Etlinger and then Kilov before even meeting Lorincz
87; I think the 1st round match between Abdesalam and Kobliashvili is the key match for the top half. the bottom half looks much tougher with both last year world medalists Kudla and Basar. the Russian guy. and also Lorincz. for whatever reason Kudla had full support of the referes in 2016 Olympics and 2017 worlds gifting him an Olympic bronze and world silver. he won medals by doing actually nothing. the world champion Basar is also not a great wrestler. he just took his chance last year. I believe Russia and Hungary will go to the final from the bottom half. The Egyptian guy Abdusalam is my pick for the gold. that's a bold prediction I know.
130; Kayaalp will win the gold 90%, I'm surprised Georgia didn't send their World Junior Champion Phartanidze. even though Kajaia is still favorite for making to the final and have the honor of losing to Kayaalp in the final. and thanks God. no Heiki Nabi after zillion years of watching him boring everybody to death and winning matches by doing NOTHING.

Yeah we have par-terre but it's a bit different this time. only maximum two. one per period. which means only two passivity cautions per match, not necessarily one for each wrestler.

Yep. check the UWW website. only 8 wrestlers for 55kg !! maybe having that weight wasn't really a good idea.
PS: UWW's new version is a bit hard to work with. not user friendly. I would like to have a PDF version

MHSN reacted to phelps in Men's Football UEFA European Champions League 2017 - 2018
that's exactly what I thought last night while watching the game...that's the capital mistake they did...they should have gone for the bleeding throat of an almost dying Real when they still had some enrgy left in the tank and not lay back waiting for ET or even just for another favourable episode (like Navas' mistake on the 3rd goal)...

wow. what a great tournament for Iran so far only one bronze so far for the girl's team but the boys completely dominated the competition. winning 6 gold (and a bronze) out of 8 weights so far is quite an achievement. specially in this sport where everybody is competitive.

MHSN got a reaction from heywoodu in Road Cycling 2018 Discussion Thread
I don't follow Cycling that much. but I think the Petrochimi Tabriz team doesn't exist anymore, the city of Tabriz also has another team "Shahrdari" though.
no idea. maybe they lost interest, and obviously Iran is getting weaker in cycling after some of those veterans finally retired after million years ! btw Iran used to host so many Continental tours per year. but only one of them is still alive. I guess that shows the level of interest of Cycling here. Cycling only making the headlines here after the doping cases.

MHSN got a reaction from thepharoah in Football 2018 Discussion Thread
Of course Portugal is not unbeatable (and remember we have a Portuguese coach) but first we have to beat (or not lose to) Morocco to stay alive for the last match. This is a very tough group but in football there is always hope. and we always can count on our fighting spirit which is always our biggest weapon.
well even Cambodia was probably better than random Sierra Leone team. that wasn't a FIFA day, and they were supposed to play with their local league players but later Iranian media found out there is no league in Sierra Leone because of Ebola we still don't know who were those guys, they didn't even want to leave Iran after the match the controversy of that match still continues. and people make joke of that team here like forever.
Queiroz confused everybody with his lineups. I hope Morocco coach scouts Iran based on those two matches, even though with Queiroz you never can be sure about anything, he always surprises with his lineups and formations .

MHSN got a reaction from thepharoah in Football 2018 Discussion Thread
that was even better, they were supposed to play Libya as well few days before Tunisia match but a last minute cancellation made them play "some guys" from Sierra Leone
The Morocco match is the key match for Iran (and actually for both teams) that's not surprising to prepare more for that one. but Queiroz tested some weird combinations in defense in both matches, giving up so many chances to Tunisia and Algeria.
btw we lost to Tunisia because of the Egyptian referee a normal referee would give a clear penalty to Iran and few red cards to both teams

This is exactly when we celebrate the "Persian New year" in Iran. as we did yesterday. unlike most countries in world the new year doesn't start at 12:00 am here. but it changes every year with the equinox .sometimes midnight, sometimes in middle of the day and etc.

Only the top 4 athletes will be eligible for the quota places. If you are unable to award someone the place will be reallocated to the Final Individual Qualification Tournament. So basically Asia will lose out.

MHSN got a reaction from heywoodu in [OFF TOPIC] General Chat
I think people who watched "Game of Thrones" remember this quote "The North Remembers"
these days this quote is used in our football ! we had some problems (bloody street fights actually) in a match in our 2nd division league between two popular Northern clubs. (something like a derby) now the visiting team fans/players claim there will be blood if those two clubs meet again. here is how they showed their anger !
all 3 provinces south of the Caspian Sea are strongly considered as "North" in Iran. that's why they use this word "North". people from other parts of Iran like me rarely use any other word than "North" for those 3 provinces. so this really fits with "North of Westeros"
