    Tonight, US TV, in the taped replay of the Closing Ceremony, shows the W 30k medal ceremony, but then cuts out the M 50/30 K ceremony.

    For winter, alpine skiing and biathlon. I hope Mikaela can right things. Then for summer, world championships in aquatics, athletics, and gymnastics for each of the next two years and women's basketball this year. Also, rowing, to see if US women can come back.

    It was definitely West Coast only. We got our NBC local (Wash. DC) news at 11:00 to 11:35. When I finally saw the race on NBC, they were about 1 hr, behind the finish.

    Couldn’t agree more. I think Figure Skating was the only sport where everything was shown live on cable or NBC.

    Can't believe the only way to see this in USA is on streaming.

    USA announcers say Shiffrin on red course is a strategic move. And that she will have to go all out to win on red course. It was USA's choice, as the higher seeded team. Germany put up Duerr first, USA countered with Shiffrin.

    They finally got it right without acknowledging their error. Porino should be better than this. (And he can't keep Slovenia and Slovakia straight.) Also, a nit that I've had throughout the Games - Yes, Wendy Holdener has never won a slalom, and they talk about what she is missing, but that can't seem to say it or don't know that Holdener has an Olympic gold medal from this event.

    first Olympic Winter Ganes gold medal since 1948. Micheline Lannoy, 97 years young, now lives in Canada, the oldest living Olympic Winter Ganes gold medalist, I think.

    In an ideal Olympic World, I would agree. But these guys have WC races in a week in Finland, and with Covid, and with all the restrictions they face in the closed-bubble, they just want to get out of China ASAP.

    Interesting argument. Some think the team figure skating team event should also be done last. But it's surely done first becaus USA/NBC TV needs some figure skating to fill up the first two nights of broadcasts before the Opening Ceremony.

    That event was about like the halfpipe tonight. Not a lot of clean runs. News Flash Team Event will be held tomorrow at 9:00 local

    More trivia, sorry, in 1968 and 1998, the 4-man bobsled was shortened due to weather. Two runs wre cancelled in 1968, one run in 1998.

    1932 Equestrian Team Jumping was cancelled but not because of weather. To explain, it was held simultaneously with Individual, but no team completed the event with the required number of riders so no medals were awarded.

    Someone just cited to Olympic Charter Bylaw 32 which basically says you can't hold an Olympic event outside the 16 day duration of ther Games. Its being speculated they could hold the Team Event at the World Cup Finals in March.

    I'd been thinking the same thing for the last hour or so, Although, in 1928 it was too warm.

    News Flash: Team Event won't happen today. May not happen at all.

    They had moved it up to 10 local time, but then they delayed 1 hour off the revised start time, so we are back to the original start time. And it's pretty blustery out there.

    Don't forget, the IOC used "bribes" to get LA to wait until 2028.
