Among other things: "Moore spent several years working to try to free Ethiopian marathoner Mamo Wolde, the 1968 Olympic champion (and 3rd in 1972 to Moore's 4th). Wolde had been arrested by Ethiopian authorities who felt he participated in an assassination attempt against the country’s dictator.   19. While I try to refrain from rooting for anyone to fail, the ROC’s meltdowns in both relays in Beijing do have an air of schadenfreude to them.
  20. A couple of recent passings: Henry Herscovici sport shooter, competed in 1968 and 1972. He was Israel’s flag bearer in the 1972 Opening Ceremony. Was 95 yrs old. Charlie Greene, 1968, Bronze in the 100 meters, Gold in the 4 x 100 relay. A few days short of 77.
