Eleni Chatziliadou (karate) She is only 28 yo. Won gold at the 2018 World Championships and also two other World Championships medals. Also won three European Championships medals between 2018 and 2021. Her injuries which ruined her chances of qualifying for last year's Olympics (the only time karate was part of the programme), seemed to also take away her motivation to continue the sport.

At least they have their pride and didn't sell themselves out for money like she did. To me that is more important than any Grand Slam title. And they did have offers from Australia but turned them down.

I think there hasn't been a tournament since 2019, so our current girls were U18 and U16 then but are punished because our U20 team from three years ago who didn't do well We won all of our games last year in the challenger but it didn't count for promotion/relegation.

Kazakhstan does not deserve to win a Grand Slam before Greece, sorry. Go Ons!

Bronze for our boys! In the end it's a good result so I can't complain. Only the third time we won a medal at the World Championships (we also won bronze in 2005 and 2015). I think we would be playing for the gold tonight if Zerdevas wasn't injured, but hopefully he will be okay for the European Championships next month.

So we lost 11-10 to Italy in the semifinals I hate to say it but I was right. We needed Zerdevas. Tzortzatos simply isn't good enough, and some of the goals he conceded surely would've been stopped by Zerdevas. There is a reason that Tzortzatos is 30 yo and only now is getting called up to the national team for the first time ever...

In most of those cases, the athletes were born in and/or raised in those European countries, yet you support Turkey of all nations who literally buy athletes from other continents. Your logic is so flawed. Nyfantopoulos won bronze in the men's 100m with a PB. In my opinion he is really the gold medalist as the gold went to a Jamaican who was bought by Turkey, and the silver went to an Azeri bought by Turkey. Last time I checked, Jamaica and Azerbaijan were not Mediterranean countries but it's interesting that you somehow do not complain about this...
