  1. Also 2 Thais were announced to have failed tests last month. That means 6 of Thailand's team failed drug tests at the World Championships. They won 17 medals (if you include clean/jerk and snatch separately). 10 could be lost

  5. My mistake, sorry, I had him disqualified from the wrong Olympics.

  9. An interesting example here from the sport of cricket in the UK In 2005 cricket was available on free television, in 2006 it switched to satelitte television with a subscription fee. In 2005 the biggest TV viewing figures were 8.5 million, by 2015 it dropped to 500,000. During the same period there was a 33% drop in people playing the sport. So the money that they gained from the TV contract had to be used to get more young people playing the game. The deal was a good one but they had to use the money to make up for massive loss of publicity.

  11. To be fair, it is accurate about what IOC plans are at the moment. It's just that those plans may change a lot in the next months.
  12. He was saying that none of it had been confirmed yet and a lot of what the article claimed may change before the summer.
  13. I've just been messaging with someone who works for the IOC. He says the L'Equipe report may not be completely accurate.
  14. Exactly. You can't have an Olympics without the most popular sport on the planet but also you shouldn't have Olympic football without the best players. It's going to be the same with baseball in Tokyo. What does an Olympic title mean when 900 of the best 1000 players in the world won't be there? Oh, and I would completely remove greco-roman wrestling becaus it's not sufficiently different from freestyle to be worth a place.
  15. And both baseball and skateboarding must be big favourites to be included in 2028
  16. Although, assuming it is part of the billiards bid, snooker has a massive following amongst teenagers in China. Don't ask me why...
  17. What do you think the chances are of baseball/softball being retained for 2024?
  18. 2020 - Tokyo. And which country spends more money on golf than anyone else? Good finish in Olympics = Great publicity = New Japanese sponsors
  19. Apart from last year when two Slovaks played at the Czech Masters...
  20. Whatever happened to Ukraine? They "found" a good team for the last Olympics.
