at least Veronika Vitková was absolutely great :)

Yes she was great to watch :) Looking forward to her races at the WCH.

I wonder who the fourth relay member for the men will be. Probably Vaclavik, I guess. His shooting isn't the greatest, though.

Oh you mean in Poland, yes :d

I had forgotten Mika is still there, but she only drove to Prague yesterday to take Bruna to the bus station (to start the travel to Kazakhstan) and then went back I gues...

Well, Gabi and Caio were in the single mixed in the Junior Cup in Pokljuka this week :p

Yeah true that :p I meant in senior competition.

well 61-13 SOG it´s really something we don´t see so often at international level. but I´m not familiar with the real levels of the teams here, I know our players play the relatively solid university league, some of them play in our second/third tier championship clubs. and we really rarely (or never) play matches against second or lowest divisions hockey countries, so it´s nice to see this comming at least at the universiade. if my knowledge is correct this was only the second SVK-GBR official match in history, the first one was7-1 in September 1993 in Sheffield during the Lillehammer 1994 olympic qualification, just 1 year after our independance when IIHF incomprehensibly and shamefully forced us to play the C pool (Equivalent of todays Division II)

Must have been quite funny for us Czechs when you had to play in Division II...

    Poor poor Slovakia

Hard to say, so far I only looked at FIS points but today and tomorrow I'm going to take a closer look at the exact results of athletes with for example above 150 FIS points to see what's possible :d

All participants ranked by FIS distance points:

Bruna would have considerably less points if the races in Ushuaia in July/August weren't cancelled by the way, probably something like 170-180 :p

I'd only say for certainty Abdykadyrova and some of the Mongolians. But who knows? Hopefully she is motivated by her fanclub :p

And she might have a decent chance considering there's not much World Cup-action among the athletes :p

And yes I was just as surprised about Georgia :d

By the way, 10 of 70 female cross-country skiers don't even appear in the FIS Points List. Mostly because they didn't compete any FIS races in the past year or so and in a few cases because there's simply no profile of them :p

How many of them do you feel Bruna can beat? :p

  6. 8 minutes ago, heywoodu said:

    Oh we already started :d

I thought this was just about tomorrow until you came up with actual stats :p

Same, I had no idea. Hahaha

I'm not really going to watch the hockey much, though. Mostly biathlon, ski jumping etc

Interesting we have a ski jumper from GEORGIA. :yikes:

Also our best female ski jumper Dolezalova is coming back, this is great news for Pyongchang, I thought she had stopped racing.

I think :TGA Tonga can scratch Kasete-Naufahu Skeen. More than one minute behind the winner in his first giant slalom.

Hmm... Yeah their cross country skiiers also are likely to be slow. Makaleta Stephan was over 10 minutes off at the Wch SPRINT.

And the other guy is a taekwondo player.

    Any news on Bruno Banani?

:UGA Uganda's snowboarding guy will compete in the Winter Universiade next week, so that might be interesting to see him in action in a big competition :)

So far he's quite behind in points. Would be great to see him perform.

By the way Uganda's the only country to have participated in the Winter Paralympics but not Olympics. Fun fact :p

  9. This doesn't really count, but remember the Iraqi :IRQ, Faisal Faisal, who narrowly missed out on the 2006 and 2010 Olympics? I messaged him and he says he's coming back onto the slopes next year, probably too late for Pyongchang but is aiming for Beijing 2022!

Other countries that were doing decently in past Olympic cycles include the Bahamas (snowboarder), Panama (bobsled team) and El Salvador (had a good alpine skiier who stopped racing suddenly). But that's very speculative that anything from them will happen, especially now.

  10. Algeria :ALG has a young alpine skiier who if she improves a lot could make it, and Khelifi their cross-country athlete could still be there, since he started about this late for qualifying for Sochi. Unfortunately they're not an ISU member so I don't see the figure skating thing happening for them :(

Also I think we should add Qatar :QAT. I know it's a huge longshot, but they are trying in short track (and yes, even mixed doubles curling) and have about as much chance as say the Haitian alpine skiiers.

Just for your info: Eurosport 2 is showing the men's race today, 'Eurosport 1' is showing the women's race. Or at least that's how it's in the Netherlands :p

You're a godsend. Without you I'd be watching on datacenter lmao

Intersting how they didn't broadcast the World Cup. Guess the Australian Open has its ways.

Yes, it's on the official streaming page :d

    http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/ibu/

And on the Eurosport Player if you happen to have that (since I'm guessing you can't receive Eurosport 2 over there).

Oh, thanks! I had no idea, I didn't even think to check because I assumed it wouldn't be there! :d

I can go on cricfree over here so I can watch Eurosport. I try to when possible, I like the commentators very much.
