I would not be surprised if the start is postponed...

You never know. Wonder how it compares to Beitostolen.

Remember that time during a WC relay when it was freakishly windy and athletes more often than not went on penalty loops?

That was when the Czechs got second

Thanks! It's freakishly cold and there's a strong wind...prepare for a ton of misses in the live timing :p

So far out of the 'Wildcard' women who are around the limit for the WCH, we only really have Tsakiri, and I imagine the two "Moldovans" could make it. If someone else can get under 150 or 180 it could be today, it's at the point where virtually any woman out of the top 30 in the Nations Cup who gets under 180 will be at the World Champs.

Any update on Bruna's ski speed? As I recall it was very promising!

Absolutely, it's horrible that they sent her. I mean, giving athletes a chance is always good, but someone should at least be capable of performing the sport...it's almost like they wanted to make her look like a fool :(

The only sort of link I can find is they sent her brother too, who didn't start his races but posted a half-decent time in the last Asian Games.. But that's no excuse..

You see what happened? She french fried when she should have pizza'd. If you french fry when you should pizza, you're gonna have a bad time.

She sure did have a bad time indeed.

(not much french-frying going on though. Haha)

I feel pretty bad for her though. The federation seemed to have no idea what it was doing.

Someone on a Dutch forum just answered "Yes" to that question...maybe a malfunction in the timing or something and he actually didn't shoot 5/5 but 4/5?

It's weird because I saw in the broadcast the target went down. The commentator also said that Beatrix will get second before changing his story and saying he got a penalty loop. Maybe it took awhile to go down and Beatrix didn't see it?

Well, I'm totally into mixed sailing (since it has 0 effect on the race itself), and mixed synchronized swimming, it's more awesome.

And also into athletic mixed rellays, they're more extrategic (but I don't want them into Olympics, they're cute at Rellay World Championships and that's all)

As long as they don't result in other events being removed, I'm fine with the first two as well. Athletics mixed relays does seem a little silly. I didn't even know it was being contested.

  7. Aaaaanyway since this 'change in events' is going to probably happen quite often because we are moving into the bright and beautiful and equal utopian future of ours, maybe someone should make a thread concerning potential and real 'event changes' for Tokyo 2020.

So bring on the athletics mixed relays and the mixed tandem cycling and the mixed sailing and the mixed wrestling (oh, god...)

  8. Apparently in rowing they are also considering mixed boats... And they have mandated that there must be '50% female participation' at all costs...Ridiculous.

I don't think anyone reasonable has a problem with women in sports. I of course support equal events for women to the extent that they are contested at a competitive and high level already. But surely their inclusion doesn't have to be a zero-some game for prestigious events with high levels of participation and quality?! I'm sure for example with canoeing they are perfectly capable of doing 5 events, they just don't want to because women don't have their own C2 and god forbid they'd feel oppressed by having fewer events. Nothing to do with the fact that a women's C2 category barely even exists.

Quite scary how the younger generation is starting to take its hold on things, I thought sports would be somewhat safe. Already people are more obsessed with being 'politically correct' and having obsessive thoughts over whether sports 'reflect the population' that quality of the athletes will matter second. It's already happening so much already in government or education. And the sad part is the further we get into time, the more of these brainwashed young people who think that 'diversity' is the first priority in life there are going to be. And this all is coming from a 17 year old.

Yeah...if you're a young biathlete just starting out, alright. But they've been around for some years already and still lose 15-20+ minutes purely in skiing speed...in a 20-25 minute sprint...

    Since 2010, actually. Wow.

I kind of want to know the story.

And good to have found another South Park fan! :d

Did they leave their skis in Taiwan or something? I mean, look at the total skiing time..

A few years ago in Beitostoelen, Fu missed only 4 shots, yet finished a little over half an hour (!) behind the winner..in a sprint..

The only explanation I can possibly think of is that the Chinese Taipei biathlon federation is simultaneously the Modern Pentathlon one as well, so maybe they are modern pentathletes who take the opportunity to get into shape during the winter?

There should be plenty of time on 6 January. If I'm not mistaken, the Four Hill Tournament in ski jumping ends on that day too, so I hope it'll be on TV and I can introduce them to the wonderful sport of ski jumping :p

Maybe in 10 years they will have their first ski jumper :p

    Imagine that.

Biathlon Brazil Fanclub Update: As head of the fanclub, I am now 99% certain I will spend the week in Martell (4-9 January) in the same hotel as the Brazilian team :d That makes life easier :p

Now I only need to get confirmation of where they will be staying in/around Arber :)

Awesome! You should make a video interview or something. Or 'a day in the life of Brazilian biathletes'.
