  1. Airine, what are you doing to my heart?
  2. Ok, with Demireva's mistake it's all out in the open now
  3. Don't you mean Dafne Shipereva ???
  4. Yup, but it's all a blur from now, since she hasn't raised the bar higher than 1.91 this year in the two competitions she entered.
  5. So sad that Palšytė is recovering It seems that no one is prepared for this final except for Lasitskienė and Demireva.
  6. If Demireva doesn't get at least silver this evening, then it's a pretty horrible performance from her. Licwinko is not here, Palšytė is way under form recovering from injuries. Perhaps Levchenko could do something, but the others should be only bronze medal contenders at best.
  7. Austra Skujytė is now training a girl that's breaking all of our U16 100m and Long Jump records. She (Skujytė) might have not been a good sprinter in her time (because of how her body was built), but she finished the best sprinter school possible in Lithuania (her coach was Stanislovaitis that passed away two years ago) and is now probably the only person handing down his knowledge, since Lithuanian 100m record holder Rytis Sakalauskas left the sport in 2017 with no interest in coaching. Also, Skujytė has a son now, so there's hope indeed
  8. Please stop this agenda, I don't want all of our Heptathlon athlete hopes thrown out of the window with 2.80 Pole Vault marks.
  9. My money's on Vicente
  10. Don't count out Qatar.
  11. Look. I gave Vetter the bronze in the prediction contest and I was expecting at least 56
  12. That's actually a very typical problem in junior athletics. Underdogs quite usually outclass their more talented compatriots. If you start winning everything left and centre, you sometimes feel entitled to your results and you might put not as much work in as the fellow athlete that is trying to become better than you. We have years and years, pages upon pages of Excel files, showing how most of the Lithuanian athletes that are big today, have not been breaking junior records. Whilst those that have been breaking junior records, most of them don't actually stick it out to the end when shit gets tough, because they're used to having everything easy, hence their natural talent. We have so many 'promising' athletes that are floating around the world somewhere, doing heck knows what.
  13. Ssssshhh, don't ruin the hype
  14. Having 26 women still in Heptathlon before the final stage is proof enough that they're more resilient and better spirited than the men
  15. Sadly, nobody started naturalising Ugandans in Heptathlon yet A missed opportunity...
  16. Pretty poor results for Vetter in Javelin. Might have lost the bronze there
  17. but... but... the Commonwealth Games???
  18. Šerkšnienė is fully focused on trying to win Lithuania its first European track medal since Lina Grinčikaitė in 2012. She has a pretty good shot tomorrow evening. After our relay qualified to the European Championships, Agnė apologised to the girls and said that she wouldn't start in the relay if she were to make it to the 400m final. We did not start Eglė Balčiūnaitė either, so I guess we used this opportunity to give some experience to youngsters Krūminaitė and Galvydytė.
  19. Oh yeah, the British commentators do love to hype up Commonwealth Games like it's the Olympics all the time
  20. I mentioned Germany, because that was the first of the top nations that are prominent in Javelin Throwing that popped in my mind. You've got to agree that when you think about the Javelin, your mind doesn't immediately go to Great Britain or France
  21. KJT Hype Time INTENSIFIES
  22. We should have about 12 athletes competing in 2020 Tokyo that have competed back in 2008 Olympics (+4 possible basketballers if we make it). 5 of them would be from Athletics, but most notable would be multiple European/World Championship medalists like Giedrius Titenis (swimming), Laura Asadauskaitė (modern pentathlon), Simona Krupeckaitė (track cycling) and Mindaugas Griškonis (rowing) that recently won silver at Euros in the singles. The 5 people for athletics would be Eglė Balčiūnaitė in 800m, Tadas Šuškevičius 50km Walk that we've seen in these champs and then Marius Žiūkas and Rasa Drazdauskaitė that are injured at the moment, but were very capable of good results in Berlin and Zinaida Sendriūtė if she comes back into the sport after her recent motherhood. Small outside chance that Lina Grinčikaitė or Kristina Saltanovič comeback, but wouldn't bet any money on that.
  23. Sorry, but the X was the right approach there. I've seen less flat javelin throws that haven't been measured, so it had nothing to do with the fact that it was not a 'German' thrower for example.
  24. That's five finals for Czech Republic and Slovakia in the morning session. disastrous champs for CZE/SVK athletics...
  25. Did not expect for Thiam to go out at 1.91
