  1. Nice Jasiūnaitė with a qualifying mark for the javelin throw final
  2. Yup, that Discus record is pretty sick, though I'm still waiting for Gudžius to at least break the 70m mark.
  3. Yes, our oldest record on the women's field is back from 1983, Ana Ambrazienė with 54.02 in women's 400m. Hurdles and only 11 days later it's the record (3:27.54) in 4x400m relay. On the men's field, it's back 1969, Vladimiras Dudinas ran the 3000m. Steeplechase in 8:22.2 Although, we have some insane records that I think will never be broken, like Galina Murašova with 72.14 in women's discus. 20.27 by Danguolė Bimbaitė in shot put seems pretty unreachable too. As for the men's, Benjaminas Viluckis looks scary in hammer throw with 82.24 (I don't know when was the last time we threw a hammer at least 70m, it's pretty much a joke discipline in Lithuania nowadays). Also, everyone is speculating if Gudžius is talented enough to go after 73.88 set by Alekna back in 2000.
  4. Nah, you answered my question correctly. I was wondering what was the most recent record, it's just that 1) I did not expect it to be that recent 2) I wanted to facepalm myself, because I remembered watching the video of that throw, but my mind erased it as a broken record Generally, I thought that perhaps the most recent broken record would be something a bit less obvious, but every single German record is probably a qualification mark to any championship Here in Lithuania we still have some records that are childs play and we have like 6-7 athletes that are actively breaking NR's as their PB's and a lot of athletes that are very close to breaking NR's.
  5. Oh, I didn't know there was one Okay then, something less recent than this one I'd assume it's pretty tough breaking records in Germany.
  6. I honestly was mad that Kluft switched to the long jump and then ended her career. I loved her after the Athens Olympics She amazingly worked the crowd in the high jump.
  7. In all honesty, this peaked my curiosity. What is the most recent senior German record that was broken?
  8. I'm glad that Skujytė helped you become stinkin' rich To me, Skujytė was the person that brought me into Athletics, I was a mesely 10 year old, but I remember everything pretty well and how my family was across the television in a circle shouting at the screen for Skujytė to run That episode will stick with me for my entire life Sidenote, I miss Carolina Kluft
  9. That's what Austra SKujytė always did to us with the 800m I remember the Athens Olympics were pretty much "Austra, try to be as less last as possible"
  10. Did not explode, was pretty happy, but not too explosive Gudžius has already trained us for success Give me a bronze for Šerkšnienė in 400m and I'll burn the house down
  11. Just came back home to see the final throw live. AMAZING. The true character of a champion!!!!!
  12. Yay Edis Matusevičius into a very deserved final.
  13. Roe nicely saved himself
  14. Wait a second, is this happening???????????????????????????? Group B of the Javelin Throw is being updated!!!!!! Edit: @heywoodu you don't need to battle your stairs.
  15. Ooh, our media is picking up. Apparently we had Jonas Pipynė that ran 1500m in European Championships back in 1958, but he did not make the final. So it's been 60 years since we last saw a Lithuanian man in 1500-10000m racing. We've only had athletes in 800m, 3000m SC and Marathon during those 60 years in middle/long distance running.
  16. I thought I would go for a morning run before the heat picks up and athletics starts. Somehow, I was very exhausted and managed to sleep through it, so it doesn't look too great for me.
  17. I guess I just have to pray that you'll need something upstrais in the next 50 minutes. How'd the hour plan go?
  18. YES! Edis went up to 81, that might be enough, but @heywoodu will have to constantly inform me with what's going on in group B
  19. For some unbeknownst reason, here in Lithuania, we don't really have screamers in the throwing events. Our javelin and discus athletes are all pretty chill We do have two shot putters that tend to groan a lot, so you can hear them from the opposite side of the stadium, thankfully, they don't ever qualify anywhere.
  20. Nice contrast between Bosnia that didn't give a fuck and Romania that cared too much
  21. I'm scared for Edis. At the Lithuanian championships he managed to throw over 80 metres three times. So many injuries have plagued him, but I think he needs over 80 again for qualifying.
  22. OMG, I was planning to write about this
  23. Come on, Edis, bring Lithuania some more joy in the morning session!
  24. Honestly, there's talk amongst the athletes, that Simas is the hardest working athlete in Lithuanian athletics. He has never qualified to any junior championships, a couple of years ago he would still finish dead last in Athletics Team Championships 1st and 2nd league, which was literally the most prestigious event that he has entered during his career. Still, with every season he kept shaving off a couple of seconds off of his time and brought it down to somewhere around 3:44 in 2017 and said that he would be qualifying to Euros this year. He brought down his PB to 3:41, then 3:40 and then under 3:40, breaking the 1500 NR (that was 30 years old) three times this season. If this isn't dedication, I don't know what is, because we don't have any history of successful male middle distance running in anything above 800m.
  25. Omg. Two years ago we couldn't even dream of having a male middle distance runner in any championships. Simas Bertašius put so much work in, 3 national records this year and a final at EUROS
