  1. As always, the heptathlon hurdles are famous for destroying hopes of young athletes Two years ago it was our girl that finished her heptathlon after an injury in the hurdles, then she went on to win a bronze medal in the U18 World Championship.
  2. I do agree with some points on it, although there are more interesting talents. Maria Vicente (heptathlon) looks very promising and interesting to watch. Olegs Kozjakovs (decathlon) is very talented. Marie Scheppan for Germany is already running 400m. quicker than the qualification mark for ECH and others.
  3. I did the SB check on every athlete to track how it is expected for our athletes to perform. 11 athletes are expected to hit top 20, with three athletes landing at 13th at best. So unless some magic happens, semi-finals and lucky finals are our best bet
  4. It's safe to say we're not qualifying anything then
  5. @dcro tipped me off that you are lurking here. I muster up the courage to create literally 1 thread in a year, I invite you to the U18 ECH thread, I'm lonely
  6. I admit, I have an extreme soft spot for athletics and I have a problem I have a lot of excel files following the qualifications of every year and I update them after every single minor event daily My friend that works in Athletics is annoyed with my extreme passion for U20 and U18 athletics
  7. It's a bit awkward when it feels like I'm the only person genuinely extremely hyped for this event even when we don't have medal hopes
  8. [hide] Knockout Round June 30th - July 15th, 2018 16 Nations, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Third Place Match and Final Quarterfinals Date & Time Nation 1 T1 T2 Nation 2 July 6th 2018, h. 17:00 (GMT+3) Uruguay 2 3 France July 6th 2018, h. 21:00 (GMT+3) Brazil 3 1 Belgium July 7th 2018, h. 18:00 (GMT+4) Sweden 1 0 England July 7th 2018, h. 21:00 (GMT+3) Russia 1 3 Croatia [/hide]
  9. I'm going against the pack on this one. Feeling a bit hungry, a bagel might do the trick
  10. Honestly interested how Totallympics predicted Sweden x Switzerland
  11. Well, even a bronze would be a heroic accomplishment and Agnė is one of my heroes in this sport. The last time we had a medal in sprints, t'was 2012 Helsinki by Lina Grinčikaitė that's no longer in the sport, sadly Our biggest prospect is Andrius Gudžius of course, Airinė Palšytė is not looking well at the moment and it's hard to say if she's contending for medals this year. Then we have a strong 20km. woman walker, but Palmisano and Spanish athletes might just grab the medals there, so Agnė looks like the most realistic option for a second medal at this time.
  12. With one less hurdle for Šerkšnienė, I ain't complaining
  13. At the moment she is leading the 400m. Of course, she is also a medal contender in 400m. Hurdles. It's definitely not an easy choice to make.
  14. And Lea Sprunger destroyed her own Swiss record from 51.09 to 50.52. The Belgian record survived by mere 0.04s, would've been a damn good race to watch live
  15. Well, it's definitely not going to be easy. Šerkšnienė finished third in this race, Lea Sprunger and Lisanne De Witt ran faster, plus there's the strong athlete from Poland, blanked on the surname. Anyways, 400m. women race is extremely improved comparing it to 2014 Zurich, where this time by Agnė would have been enough for gold and 2016 would have been enough for silver. Now three girls already running under 51s.
  16. Agnė Šerkšnienė broke the Lithuanian National Record with a 50.99 in 400 metres. The record was 34 years old, set by Dalia Matusevičienė (mother of Edis Matusevičius, that holds the men's javelin NR) before Agnė was even born. With this result, Agnė is one of the contenders for a possible medal in the upcoming European Championships.
  17. Today was the day of COSMA Cup in Lithuania, Vilnius. Got the chance to travel and see the event live. I got to witness the men's 1500m. National Record broken for the 3rd time this month by Simas Bertašius in 3:39.01 The first season start of Airinė Palšytė (she jumped 1.93 in training, but in the cup she jumped 1.85, claiming fatigue) Lastly, the cherry on the cake was the organised women's 4x400m. relay, where three girls flew in (2 from Switzerland, 1 from Spain) just for this event only and a shot at qualifying to the European Championship. There were flight delays and the women from Switzerland arrived 7 hours later than planned, at 1AM. So with little expectations and thoughts about running 3:35-36, they went out and ran 3:33.03 and are nearly guaranteed a place in the European Championships.

  19. Even I don't remember that, it's not generally a smiley that I'd use and I guess it was purely with ironic purpose Anyways, being a passive bystander, this thread is a gold mine for the popcorn industry with all the drama
  20. Lithuania announced their finalised team earlier today and it consists of 27 athletes, a steady improvement over 19 athletes back in 2016. With Lithuania bidding to host the European U20 and U23 in 2021, the level of the sport in our country is steadily increasing in all youth and junior categories, followed with a lot of broken records. MEN'S TEAM Edgaras Radzevičius (2001), 100m. - 11.00 / 200m. - 22.09 Dovidas Petkevičius (2001), 110m. Hurdles - 14.23 / High Jump - 2.01 Dominykas Smetonis (2001), 400m. Hurdles - 55.56 Augustas Bukauskas (2001), High Jump - 2.04 Paulius Ivaškevičius (2001), Triple Jump - 14.31 Vilius Junevičius (2001), Triple Jump - 14.29 Dominykas Čepys (2001), Shot Put - 18.38 Karolis Gelažius (2002), Shot Put - 17.48 Matas Makaravičius (2002), Discus Throw - 54.25 Justas Čėsna (2002), Javelin Throw - 62.40 Vildijus Petkus (2001), Javelin Throw - 62.08 WOMEN'S TEAM Austėja Barbšytė (2001), 100m. - 12.22 Lukrecija Sabaitytė (2002), 200m. - 25.11 Roberta Žikaitė (2001), 200m. - 25.14 / 400m. - 56.97 Augustė Žikaitė (2001), 800m. - 2:12.27 Dominyka Petraškaitė (2001), 800m. - 2:13.76 Ugnė Žvinklytė (2001), 1500m. - 4:35.65 Greta Karinauskaitė (2001), 1500m. - 4:37.73 Meda Repšytė (2002), 2000m. Steeplechase - 6:59.36 Amelita Taujanskaitė (2002), High Jump - 1.75 Luka Garšvaitė (2001), Long Jump - 6.00 Deimantė Raudytė (2002), Triple Jump - 12.15 Akvilė Medvedevaitė (2001), Triple Jump - 12.00 Ieva Florijona Česnaitė (2001), Shot Put - 14.26 Sonata Rudytė (2001), Discus Throw - 42.86 Olivija Vaitaitytė (2002), Heptathlon - 4966 Adrija Meškauskaitė (2001), 5km. Race Walk - 24:48.00 As always, we seem to qualify more women than men in Athletics events, interesting thing is that we rarely have qualifications in men's triple jump, mid distance running events, steeplechase races and we have 5 people qualified in that. We nearly had our first historical pole vault qualification too, but I guess that was not meant to happen Anyways, we're expecting good things from Bukauskas, Čepys, Repšytė, Garšvaitė and the other athletes have their chance to surprise everyone.
