  1. but... but... the Commonwealth Games???
  2. Šerkšnienė is fully focused on trying to win Lithuania its first European track medal since Lina Grinčikaitė in 2012. She has a pretty good shot tomorrow evening. After our relay qualified to the European Championships, Agnė apologised to the girls and said that she wouldn't start in the relay if she were to make it to the 400m final. We did not start Eglė Balčiūnaitė either, so I guess we used this opportunity to give some experience to youngsters Krūminaitė and Galvydytė.
  3. Oh yeah, the British commentators do love to hype up Commonwealth Games like it's the Olympics all the time
  4. I mentioned Germany, because that was the first of the top nations that are prominent in Javelin Throwing that popped in my mind. You've got to agree that when you think about the Javelin, your mind doesn't immediately go to Great Britain or France
  5. We should have about 12 athletes competing in 2020 Tokyo that have competed back in 2008 Olympics (+4 possible basketballers if we make it). 5 of them would be from Athletics, but most notable would be multiple European/World Championship medalists like Giedrius Titenis (swimming), Laura Asadauskaitė (modern pentathlon), Simona Krupeckaitė (track cycling) and Mindaugas Griškonis (rowing) that recently won silver at Euros in the singles. The 5 people for athletics would be Eglė Balčiūnaitė in 800m, Tadas Šuškevičius 50km Walk that we've seen in these champs and then Marius Žiūkas and Rasa Drazdauskaitė that are injured at the moment, but were very capable of good results in Berlin and Zinaida Sendriūtė if she comes back into the sport after her recent motherhood. Small outside chance that Lina Grinčikaitė or Kristina Saltanovič comeback, but wouldn't bet any money on that.
  6. Sorry, but the X was the right approach there. I've seen less flat javelin throws that haven't been measured, so it had nothing to do with the fact that it was not a 'German' thrower for example.
  7. That's five finals for Czech Republic and Slovakia in the morning session. disastrous champs for CZE/SVK athletics...
  8. Did not expect for Thiam to go out at 1.91
  9. Nice Jasiūnaitė with a qualifying mark for the javelin throw final
  10. Yup, that Discus record is pretty sick, though I'm still waiting for Gudžius to at least break the 70m mark.
  11. Yes, our oldest record on the women's field is back from 1983, Ana Ambrazienė with 54.02 in women's 400m. Hurdles and only 11 days later it's the record (3:27.54) in 4x400m relay. On the men's field, it's back 1969, Vladimiras Dudinas ran the 3000m. Steeplechase in 8:22.2 Although, we have some insane records that I think will never be broken, like Galina Murašova with 72.14 in women's discus. 20.27 by Danguolė Bimbaitė in shot put seems pretty unreachable too. As for the men's, Benjaminas Viluckis looks scary in hammer throw with 82.24 (I don't know when was the last time we threw a hammer at least 70m, it's pretty much a joke discipline in Lithuania nowadays). Also, everyone is speculating if Gudžius is talented enough to go after 73.88 set by Alekna back in 2000.
  12. Nah, you answered my question correctly. I was wondering what was the most recent record, it's just that 1) I did not expect it to be that recent 2) I wanted to facepalm myself, because I remembered watching the video of that throw, but my mind erased it as a broken record Generally, I thought that perhaps the most recent broken record would be something a bit less obvious, but every single German record is probably a qualification mark to any championship Here in Lithuania we still have some records that are childs play and we have like 6-7 athletes that are actively breaking NR's as their PB's and a lot of athletes that are very close to breaking NR's.
  13. Oh, I didn't know there was one Okay then, something less recent than this one I'd assume it's pretty tough breaking records in Germany.
  14. I honestly was mad that Kluft switched to the long jump and then ended her career. I loved her after the Athens Olympics She amazingly worked the crowd in the high jump.
  15. In all honesty, this peaked my curiosity. What is the most recent senior German record that was broken?
  16. I'm glad that Skujytė helped you become stinkin' rich To me, Skujytė was the person that brought me into Athletics, I was a mesely 10 year old, but I remember everything pretty well and how my family was across the television in a circle shouting at the screen for Skujytė to run That episode will stick with me for my entire life Sidenote, I miss Carolina Kluft
  17. That's what Austra SKujytė always did to us with the 800m I remember the Athens Olympics were pretty much "Austra, try to be as less last as possible"
  18. Did not explode, was pretty happy, but not too explosive Gudžius has already trained us for success Give me a bronze for Šerkšnienė in 400m and I'll burn the house down
  19. Just came back home to see the final throw live. AMAZING. The true character of a champion!!!!!
  20. Yay Edis Matusevičius into a very deserved final.
  21. Wait a second, is this happening???????????????????????????? Group B of the Javelin Throw is being updated!!!!!! Edit: @heywoodu you don't need to battle your stairs.
  22. Ooh, our media is picking up. Apparently we had Jonas Pipynė that ran 1500m in European Championships back in 1958, but he did not make the final. So it's been 60 years since we last saw a Lithuanian man in 1500-10000m racing. We've only had athletes in 800m, 3000m SC and Marathon during those 60 years in middle/long distance running.
  23. I thought I would go for a morning run before the heat picks up and athletics starts. Somehow, I was very exhausted and managed to sleep through it, so it doesn't look too great for me.
