The question that should be asked in surveys is how people feel about healthy athletes potentially getting those important vaccines before people in need. And IOC has to think about if having the Olympics this year will seriously damage the brand of the Games or not. We are not that far off from the Games and there are some quite serious COVID restrictions in place in many countries that are damaging businesses. It will reflect on quite terribly for everyone involved if these restrictions will be still in place, but the event involving thousands of athletes from around the world can just go ahead. Even on smaller scale this is real, people are pissed here in Hungary that the end of the restrictions are nowhere near in sight while we are hosting the Champions League matches of some rich Western clubs like they are more important than regular folks.

Reaching the Top8 is still a great achievement. I think it's a shame when people remember a team for messing up their opportunity instead of appreciating for what they have achieved. For example, sometimes Hungarians do that with the 2000s female team who messed up the last few minutes of their Olympic and World Championship final in 2000 and 2003, when in fact that was the greatest team we've ever had in women's handball.

I would say that it depends on how the next election will go in 2022, if Orbán wins, I think we will have a bid again. I think it would be a stronger bid than 2024 as we will have an athletics stadium ready for the 2023 WCh, and Europe's largest handball arena for ECh 2022. Plus we also have the new Puskás Arena. The last bid failed because people didn't like the idea of FIdesz building more venues. Well, they built most of those venues anyway for other events...
