The chaos scenario happened! The qualification group with Chinese Taipei will be useless, I feel sorry for the other five teams that will have to compete. -

The third event of the Championship Tour had its first day of competition today. We already have a surprised elimination as third ranked Tyler Wright is out. This gives the other Australian surfers an opportunity to cut the gap for one of the two Australian quotas at the Olympics.

Men's Rugby Sevens WR World Series 2022 - 2023
JoshMartini007 replied to Totallympics's topic in Rugby Sevens
Tough luck for Ireland. They can't afford to miss the cup quarterfinals, but will have to go through one of New Zealand or South Africa to do so. Samoa won't like missing another cup quarterfinals either as that pretty much forces them to be great for the final three events. Of course if Oceania can prevent South Africa from finishing in the top 4 the point is pretty moot -

Standings After 7/11 Events 1. - 120 (-) 2. - 108 (-) 3. - 95 (+4) 4. - 94 (-) 5. - 94 (+1) 6. - 89 (-1) 7. - 89 (-4) 8. - 83 (+1) 9. - 81 (-1) 10. - 57 (-) 11. - 34 (-) 12. - 30 (-) 13. - 29 (-) 14. - 20 (-) --- - 12 (-) 15. - 10 (-) Horrible tournament for South Africa as they drop four spots and out of an Olympic qualification position. Australia takes the open spot thanks to their bronze medal performance. Three quotas going to Oceania nations would help ensure the strongest nations qualify to the Olympics, but we are far from over as the top 9 all still have viable chances. Argentina's title allows them to cut into New Zealand's lead. If they can cut the lead again during the Asian swing we could have an interesting finish. -

Standings After 5/7 Events 1. - 98 (-) 2. - 84 (-) 3. - 82 (-) 4. - 66 (-) 5. - 58 (-) 6. - 48 (-) 7. - 44 (-) 8. - 26 (+2) 9. - 25 (-1) 10. - 20 (-1) 11. - 13 (-) The only movement was Canada rising up two places. It would take something crazy for New Zealand to not win the title. They have qualified to the Olympics though. Australia and the United States are very close to the Olympics. They only need a 9th and 8th place finish respectively next round to be guaranteed a spot. Ireland's lead took a bit of a hit dropping from 16 to 10 against Fiji for the final Olympic quota. It's still a sizable lead, but another performance like this in Hong Kong would make the final event a lot more interesting. -
