In fact, the United States did not win a single gold medal today. Mexico had the best day, winning 4/9 events and moving back into second. Additionally, the Dominican Republic moved ahead of Cuba thanks to their victory in women's indoor volleyball.

  5. Big win for in this group of death. At least one of will miss the semis.

This moved them to second place overall. Mexico and Brazil accounted for four golds a piece. In fact, the top 4 nations won 24/28 events. The Dominican Republic was able to win one of those few gold medals and move ahead of Argentina. Similarly Ecuador moves into the top 10, displacing Venezuela.

  8. It's JoshMartini official There's still tripartite invitations to go.
  9. They are the best nations in the continent and the rules allow them to qualify in two events so yes.
  10. Looks like Canada will get to compete in shooting at the Olympics. That was one of the sports where we were at risk at not qualifying anyone.
  11. Full Results Olympic Quotas Men's Single Sculls - Women's Single Sculls - Men's Lightweight Double Sculls - Women's Lightweight Double Sculls - Egypt and Tunisia had a better performance in the M1x than the W1x where they finished 3rd and 5th respectively so the quotas got reallocated. Because of this, the winner of Final B in the W1x (Morocco) also qualified.
  12. The badminton venue has a capacity of 1200 spectators which is more than 2019. To keep the games practical for hosts 1000-2000 spectator venues for most sports is ideal. Anyways here's hoping we go 4 for 4 in badminton.
  13. I guess Brazil is the new boxing powerhouse? Cuba doesn't have a strong women's program, but the fact that not all of the men are challenging for a quota is very surprising.
  14. Top 10 After Day 4 Nations Gold Silver Bronze Total 1. United States 51 28 30 109 2. Mexico 22 13 15 50 3. Canada 20 20 18 58 4. Brazil 10 16 19 45 5. Colombia 5 10 7 22 6. Chile 5 9 9 23 7. Cuba 3 3 3 9 8. Argentina 2 9 8 19 9. Dominican Republic 2 4 2 8 9. Venezuela 2 4 2 8 Another strong day for the United States as they are well on pace to outdo their 2019 performance. While Mexico had a good day with six golds, Canada countered with eight to trim Mexico's lead to 2. Brazil is slowly being left behind as they are ten back from Canada. Chile moved up one to sixth with a three gold medal haul. Argentina picked up another eight medals, but only one was gold. It was still enough to move ahead of Venezuela who failed to win any medals today. If they aren't careful the likes of Peru or Ecuador may surpass them.

  16. Here's where we are in terms of Olympic qualification going into the finals (I've ordered boats based on their previous round's time, except in M1x, I used their heat time). Men's Single Sculls A Final - B Final - Women's Single Sculls A Final - B Final - Men's Lightweight Double Sculls A Final - Women's Lightweight Double Sculls A Final - Egypt is the big favourite to win the LM2x while Tunisia and Egypt will fight for the LW2x title. Should Egypt win both lightweight double sculls events then they won't be eligible for a single sculls quota unless they also win the event in which case they will have to decline one of the boats (probably still the single sculls boat). Should that happen then the remaining boats in the A Final will qualify. The winner of the B Final could still qualify, but require the L2x quotas be won by two different nations and then those nations qualifying a boat in the opposite gender's single sculls event.
  17. Is the plan to do it later or try to finish everything by the 27th?
  18. I assume a cricket competition would split the West Indies so there will actually be a decent number of teams. would all be decent teams. Perhaps some of the smaller members of the West Indies could also take on for a spot.
  19. I'm not sure how much power the host nation has in choosing the optional sports. I feel most of the optional sports would be safe in Colombia 2027 except basque pelota and breaking if WorldDance stops developing it. Baseball/Softball and squash are very safe since they will be at the 2028 Olympics. Bowling, karate and an expanded roller sports program feel safe to me given Colombia's participation and results in those sports. That leaves racquetball and water skiing as the most at risk sports if the host nation wants to tighten things up. As for the other three new Olympic sports (cricket, flag football and lacrosse), I don't really see any of them participating. The only reason would be if Pan Am Sports wants to make the Pan Am Games the continental qualifier, but if Colombia gets to pick I imagine they would leave the three out.
  20. This has been a thing for a while. 2023 was suppose to be the Olympic program plus a couple of extra sports. Ultimately it ended up with only bodybuilding (which was added in 2019) missing out. I think what will happen is the host must include the Olympic program and the other sports are optional. The good news for the non-Olympic sports is they are relatively cheap to host. Baseball/Softball is obviously expensive, but after that roller sports would be the next most expensive sport.
  21. The schedule has been favourable to the United States. I don't suspect they will get to 170. Over 122 gold is much more doable.
  22. Top 10 After Day 3 Nations Gold Silver Bronze Total 1. United States 41 18 24 83 2. Mexico 16 9 7 32 3. Canada 12 15 13 40 4. Brazil 7 13 15 35 5. Colombia 4 8 6 18 6. Cuba 3 2 2 7 7. Chile 2 7 6 15 8. Venezuela 2 4 2 8 9. Argentina 1 5 5 11 10. Dominican Republic 1 4 1 6 Argentina returns to the top 10 after winning their first gold medal, knocking off Peru. Venezuela drops two spots as they failed to win a gold medal today. Huge day for Mexico again as they snap up another 6 golds to extend their second place lead. Chile had a great day as they more than doubled their medal total. It was also a great day for Canada who almost doubled their total medal count.

  24. Yeah just saw it. We're a lot safer now.
