    Not quite sure how Chris Froome has the nerve to take that Israeli billionaire’s money after his display of utter crapness in the Tour de Romandie today. If the owner wants a marquee name for his team he might as well sign Indurain or Hinault, their careers couldn’t be more over.

    Take it 9-7. Swiss battled hard, but couldn’t overcome the disaster of giving up a 4 in the very first end. So a great season for Eve Muirhead, winning the Europeans, Olympics & now the World Mixed. Let’s hope it encourages her to keep going to Cortina at least.

    Speedway Grand Prix starts tomorrow in Croatia. It’ll be a bit of a sad occasion - long-time international feed commentator Nigel Pearson died suddenly just a couple of week ago. Think TV coverage is now Eurosport Europe-wide, maybe some exceptions.     I remember they were ecstatic to get the overall in the Algarve a couple of years back. Kind of similar thing in Britain, most of our dopers are rugby players & boxers who are only just holding down pro careers. Well, nightclub security guys also. It’s UCI rules, once teams are at their level they are all guaranteed twice-what-you-make-at-Lidl scale minimum wage, plus bonuses etc.
