  4. Back in the 30s there used to be regular swimming races in the Seine. People had different perceptions of risk in those days though.
  5. Will be interesting to see how many entries this gets. I am not predicting a need for enormous timetable revisions. World Aquatics will debut a new open category for transgender athletes at this year's Swimming World Cup event in Berlin. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/swimming/66505976
  6. Don't worry about that high-pitched whining sound in your ears! There is nothing wrong with them, it is just sore loser fans complaining. Angry Matildas fans blast 'cowardly' Lionesses' aggressive approach in World Cup semi-final as they accuse England of 'being out for Sam Kerr' | Daily Mail Online

  10. Women's race from Wiesbaden: probably need to watch it quick before the Copyright Cops get it!
  11. She had her excuses polished and ready... "It was a tough race," the Dutch rider responded. "I didn't feel good at the beginning of the race, so I was dropped early on. Right then, I thought it was over and done with, and I wouldn't be able to get back. We couldn't even see the cars anymore. I was with Marianne Vos and Lorena Wiebes, and they said we should let the others do the work, but nobody really did anything." "However, I knew that we wanted to fight for the rainbow jersey with Demi Vollering, so I told Marianne that I was going to put the pedal to the medal. We had to try, as we could still help with positioning," said the Lidl-Trek rider. "That's how I fought my way back before we reached the local laps. Eventually, I ended up in a group with Blanka and Anna, so at that moment, I realized it was about the U23 title. Blanka was too fast, though; I didn't have much power left in my legs."
  12. I remember Jeannie Longo being Double French Champion for year after year, well into her 50s, because there just weren’t any good young riders.
  13. So overall a great event for us. First place in both Elite & Para. Official totals for the Elite Cyclists are 23G 12S 21B - 56 Total For Para Cycling 24G 11S 9B - 44 Total https://www.uci.org/event-hub/2023-uci-cycling-world-championships/6WHHqfuGeCiM5MZXd8a6sZ?tab=medals3

  15. Everyone gifting the main race to Chabbey. Wonder if they’ve just forgotten about her.

  17. Agree. 20 secs down, two laps to go & four hard climbs per lap.
  18. Sidney McLaughlin another no-show in both Buda & Pest.
  19. Also teen phenom Josh “Sam” Tarling just took bronze, which should guarantee S4C coverage of the TdF for the next fifteen years or so.
  20. Problem is I bet that her road contract does not permit more than a few MB races per year.
  21. Yeah. Road guys would not be able to even turn some of those insane gears in the kilo start. I guess the stats obsessed can get a comparison from the old original 6 discipline Omnium when endurance riders had to do a 200m flying lap.
  22. Road guy would win every time. Track sprinters are 200m max, sometimes not even that.
  23. Track sprinters & road sprinters are like comparing Usain Bolt with Mo Farah. Farah could run 9600m then sprint for 400m. But Bolt was always the fastest. In the past 20 years I can think of only one guy - Theo Bos - who had a career as a road sprinter after being a track sprinter. Viviani & Cavendish always do endurance on the track.
  24. Ie the same jury who do everything, not specifically Scottish. But I agree they have been slack, compared to the London 2012 especially.
