  2. It also ends what was tied for the longest medal streak for Canada in any summer sport, Canada had won a wrestling medal at every summer Olympics since 1992. Rowing now has that record for Canada. As for the US, this was the first time they didn't win an Olympic medal in rowing in a non-boycotted Olympics since 1912.
  3. India winning gold would definitively quiet some of the chatter about field hockey's long term future at the Olympics. No pressure.
  4. fails to medal in women's wrestling for the very first time. Very bad results from the team both in qualification and at the Olympic themselves, really seems like the sport is in steep decline in Canada.
  5. Ya, the current judo golden score rule is so good. It turns stalemates into fascinating endurance contests.
  6. Canada is now entirely out of women's wrestling. The wrestler who beat Lappage got demolished in the following round.
  7. Actually wrestling was tied for our longest medal streak in the Olympics, looks like rowing will take sole possession of that title now.
  8. Sure looks like the first ever Olympics without a medal for Canada in women's wrestling and Canada's worst Olympics in wrestling since 1988.
  9. Pavan / Humana-Parades make quick work of Liliana / Baquerizo to advance to the quarterfinals. They are still to lose a set.
  10. CBC has captioned the discution that lead to the tie (tweet link, requires a VPN: https://twitter.com/CBCOlympics/status/1421848198797213705?s=20 ) O is the official, B is Barshim. B: Wait, wait, wait. O: They spoke to me. B: Yes? O: It's too tight. We can continue with the jump-off. B: Can we have two gold? O: It's possible. It depends if you decide... B: History, my friend. O: ...if you both decide on... B: Olympic champions! *they hug* B: It's over.
  11. Basically every swimmer with any relevance is on an ISL roster unless they are wanting to maintain NCAA eligibility. The ISL actually pays people money.
  12. Jacobs became a full time 100m runner only a couple years ago, he used to be a long jumper. The sudden improvement isn't that shocking given that context.
  13. Thanks, that clears things up. Wasn't aware of that rule change.
  14. Really makes me wonder why they bothered to jump-off for gold at the 2015 worlds then. You'd think nobody would ever want a jump off in a major championship.
  15. Still really confused about what the rule is re: when a jump off is required and when it isn't in the high jump. Like, did they just offer them the tie so they could get on to the 100m finals? xD
  16. He was born in Texas. He's eligible to vote in elections in Texas (unless he gave up his US citizenship at some point), he's a Texan. Obviously not questioning that he's 100% Italian. I've made similar comments about Canadian athletes with connections to Texas fwiw.
  17. Wait you can just... decide to share gold? xD
  18. Barshin would be an extremely deserving winner.
  19. Disappointing to see Django go out, but what a great Olympic debut for him.
  20. He's literally a former worlds finalist in the 100m.
  21. Depends on the distance. Conditions are very good for sprinters.
