Only winning one gold would be a disaster too

The gap between and is bigger than the gap between and . I think we need to stop talking about a big two, there is a big one and the rest is fighting for silver. Personally I hope fails to make the final so Hockey Canada is forced to have a reckoning. The women’s program has been failing upwards for a long time and I think it has finally caught up to us in a way that is impossible to overcome with some good performances from individual players.

We need to start winning some events we weren’t supposed to win to hit a respectable number :P

At least if he wins in 2030 we can also hand him a 2034 gold medal at the same time

Kinda crazy that every men’s snowboardcross champ has defended their title given the volatility in that sport.

And we will find more ways to lose all of them in the most hearthbreaking fashion imaginable.

Such a disappointing outcome, this one is going to take a while to digest especially after a similar (but somehow less difficult) outcome happened in 2022

Realistically is gonna win between zero and five gold medals tomorrow. Hopefully closer to five than zero :P (Five would be extremely unlikely, but I do think it could be two or three if we have a really good day) I do think we pretty clearly have more medal and gold medal chances tomorrow than in the first five days of the Olympics combined (I’d say we had two reasonable gold medal chances over the first five days and we have four tomorrow).

Honestly my main criticism of both CBC and NBC is that they’ve not covered why people dislike FB/C at all. They may vaguely allude to it at best. I guess both have a vested interest in not rocking the boat too much re: I. AM. American media is far from perfect, but it’s certainly disappointing that they’ve swept it under the rug (at least the outlets carrying the Olympics). I don’t keep up with French media as much as I should but I’m assuming they have been pretty silent on this given past precedent with how the French media prefers to look the other way at things of that nature.

So happy for Gilles and Poirier but sadly the gold medalists are deeply souring me on this.

Simon stole a petty amount from a teammate, which is bad but like… it’s just kind of amusing as an outsider. Which is a little different than an ice dance team that came together basically because multiple people wanted to turn a blind eye to sexual abuse. It’s not so funny. And I don’t think there is national bias here on my end, arguably everyone in the leadership of I.AM share responsibility in this (which implicates two of the best ice dancers of all times).
