  1. Elissa Slotkin winning the Michigan senate seat is definitively something that will confound some naratives. Hard to imagine that the Muslim and Pro Palestinian protest vote had that much of a real impact if Harris lost Michigan while a Jewish and very pro-Israel Democrat won the open senate seat in the state with the highest Muslim population nation.
  2. This is a criticism you can make of Clinton, but not really of Harris.
  3. Then why did so many pro-Palestine folks in the US ask people to sit out? (But yes, this is looking quite bad for Palestine and Ukraine )
  4. She did, but Trump got much, much closer than anybody expected.
  5. If you want to see crazy election results look at what is happening in Illinois or Virginia. Crazy big shifts from 2020.
  6. Also, I should make it very clear that I am, in fact, an American citizen.
  7. People will really take a sentence you write online and make up a completely new sentence that has no relation to it to reply to. What the heck makes you think I was talking about illegal aliens? Preferably without building a strawman.
  8. Too bad he hates so many Americans
  9. Well, given the closing ads Trump made it pretty clear that his vision of America has no room for the "them/thems" so... might very seriously look at moving 200 miles North. Unfortunate that my fellow citizens hate people who aren't gender conforming. (Perk of having two passports I guess)
  10. I mean, even w/ the leaks I'm still waiting for proof that she's trans.
  11. I can't believe they came up with a new hockey event I *don't* want added to the Olympics
  12. I mean, there are plenty of Olympic sports and events that cater very specifically to North America, East Asia and (especially) Europe, I don't think it's a bad thing to have one sport that caters to the Indian subcontinent. Especially since that's more people than North America and Europe combined. Also, IMO on the merrits cricket is definitively worthy of Olympic inclusion.
  13. I'm not sure how it is elsewhere, but in the US the rights for all events in and are sold separately, while every other event's broadcast rights was sold in a package (to an expensive pay streaming service)
  14. One of the thing that the commission assessed was her Lithuanian language abilities, and they found it satisfactory.
  15. It appears likely Allison Reed will soon be granted citizenship by way of exception (this will also allow her to keep her citizenship) after a unanimous recommendation from the country’s citizenship commission. The president still needs to provide final approval.
  16. We FINALLY have a schedule! https://x.com/SSC_PVC/status/1849204271511744646
  17. Not having a schedule makes it more Gen Z friendly, it makes the event more spontaneous, urban and gender neutral.
  18. It seems to be entirely driven by time zone issues. From the IOC's standpoint the whole reason to include cricket in the Olympics is to (vastly) increase the value of the TV deals from India. It isn't to grow the game in the US or w/e.
  19. Two-time short track Olympian Maame Biney is retiring, seemingly due to injury.
  20. Bottcher just has bad vibes. And all the teams he's been on have had personel drama.
  21. Will be super exciting to see how she does in the CT!
